mmm, I really want to get m hands on it, but it's not worth $80 to me, I'm emigrating to Australia in 4 months, and already have the NAVIGON Australia ipa, so dont really want to spend money on buying this, I'm hoping they will release this release on appulous or some other forum :) I don't want to wait until I am in Aus to check the software out!

Was just about to say that it's definitely worth the $75, but not for only 4 months. Hang tight till you get there ;)

I'm also keen to try Navigon, it's just a pity there isn't a trial version available. I have tried Tomtom, Sygic and iGo. Tomtom's routing is the best of the three but got the least features. iGo is pretty but I prefer Sygic.

So how up to date is Navigon's mapset?

I just bought biteSMS, was sick and tired for the "you are using a pirated version" screen that pops up in the cracked 4.2 version!

I got a problem with my 3GS! I charged it via the wall last night to 100%(took off at 6:00AM).. by 11:00AM it was down to 2%.. I have charged it back up and its just drained again... I haven't used more than 20 mins of apps. My brightness is VERY low and I have turned off almost everything. My iPhone is also VERY hot at the back if that is any correlation? On my iPhone it also says the usage time V standby time is 1 min different meaning while my phone is sleeping it is being used. but by what? I have made sure that all apps are closed and no processes being run.

I thought it could be firmware related so I tried to restore but you cant go below 3.1 in iTunes(even on 8.2).

Does anybody have any suggestions? Would Apple's Int warranty cover these issues? Thanks

I'm assuming you've rebooted it already?

Warranty should cover it, but otherwise try restoring using 3.1 if rebooting doesn't help.

I just rebooted it now.. I cant go to 3.1 cause its american stock so I need to JB to unlock it:(
Will let you know if the reboot helps

Cool, good luck. So you're saying you can't even restore 3.0 or 3.01?

I was running 3.01 and downgraded to 3.0 last week actually.

Try this:
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc then open the "hosts" file with notepad and add the following line at the bottom
74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com

then try restoring your 3.0 ispw again. Worked for me. :)

PS.
I wish they would hurry up with the 3GS Jailbreak for 3.1

Can your phone access the web? Can happen if your phone tries to access the web in the background and there's something wrong with the data network...

Go to Settings, Notifications (if it exists) , turn them off if there are any.

Then go to settings, Mail, Fetch new data, turn push off and change fetch to manually

Urgh :(

Check this out:
http://www.saurik.com/id/12

"If you encouter "unknown error (3002)", you probably do not have your ECID SHSH's for 3.0 "on file" with Cydia. Unfortunately, as Apple is no longer allowing users to sign the 3.0 firmware, it is no longer possible to register your device with Cydia."

Strange because I didn't even know I had anything "on file" with Cydia.
Looks like the only option for you would be to wait for the 3.1 3Gs Jailbreak, or uninstall everything you've got installed and take it from there.

Here is what I get when I open Cydia

Nice that they've got my stuff on file but I never asked them to capture it.

So i used TomTom today. Besides draining my battery, it wasnt to bad! It got a bit confused in the beginning, but then sorted itself out. Am going to try Navigon too!

download iRecovery from iHackintosh - http://www.ihackintosh.com/2009/07/irecovery-iphone-recovery-mode-loop-restart/ Follow the steps there to get your phone out of recovery mode.

So my phone is now in recovery mode because I was trying to update my firmware which failed. I am trying to use the above but "2) Start iRecovery in Terminal / Console with iRecovery -s" doesnt work.. I paste "iRecovery -s" into cmd and it doesnt accept it :(

Anyone know how to take out of recovery?

Yeah, these things really do drain the battery quickly. I've found it uses about 30%/hour if your lucky. I've read Navigon uses more power than what the charger can provide so it doesn't actually charge while using it, so I'd prefer to test it before buying.

Eish, I haven't had that problem yet. I'm assumming you've tried getting it into DFU mode and then doing a restore?

I don't understand why iTunes won't let you restore though because you're not trying to downgrade from 3.1, you're simply trying to restore your current firmware. Are you running 3.0 or 3.01? Use the same version you had on there before, eg don't try restoring 3.01 if you were running 3.0

You need to be in the folder in which the iRecovery files are located. e.g. C:\desktop\iRecovery

This is apples way of controlling the upgrade process. They wont allow you to restore to an older version for some stupid reason.

Bastards, so they're forcing you to upgrade. Not nice at all.

Dammit...

No Luck. I rechecked my host file, everything seems fine. When trying to do the restore with the file posted above, i still get "Verifying iPhone restore with Apple" and then..."This device isn't eligible for the requested build" ?? :(

Were you jailbroken before? Only works if you were 'on file' with cydia BEFORE 3.1 was released
