HeyWAY strictly guards your privacy: you must individually authorize others to see your location, and location updates are sent only when you specifically choose. Note that it is not possible to track another HeyWAY user without them choosing to send you a location update.

Hi all

I'm using an iphone 3g with version 3.0 of the os. (Jailbroken.) If I update itunes to 9, will my phone still connect to itunes, or do I have to update teh phone to 3.1 as well?

it'll be fine, just be careful not to update to 3.1 by mistake, also you won't be able to use the app arrangement feature in itunes 9, but everything else should work.

ah man I'm sorry to hear that :( but you are in the same boat as me kinda. My 3gs is stock 3.1 no jailbreak as far as I know..

I'm sure it won't be long until jailbreak tool like redsnow is released for 3.1.

Wonder what you did wrong though. Don't think it was my firmware as i followed all iclarified steps. Will look into it.

I tried again and get this http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275 then it recovers back to standard 3.1 :( won't allow the custom firmware $%@#$^^@$#^$#^

Are you sure you are in Recovry Mode and not DFU mode?

Have you tried both Recovery and DFU modes to check?

I had the same problem with my 2G, the only way I could restore to custom firmware was to get the phone into a "white" DFU mode as they call it.

There is a DFU mode where the screen remains black - this didnt work for me

And there is a DFU mode where the screen remains blank white - this only worked for me.. It's worth a shot..

WHITE DFU MODE:

Here is what I did: (give it a shot)

1) Download QuickPwn RC3

2) Download the 2.0.2 firmware (yes, that's right, the 2.0.2 firmware)

The above is for iPhone 3G (just checking)

3) Plug in your iPhone, fire up QuickPwn RC3, select the 2.0.2 firmware you downloaded, and choose anything until you get to where the phone gets put into DFU mode

4) Follow the on-screen steps to put your phone into DFU mode and wait until the screen turns white

5) Unplug your iPhone or just quit QuickPwn

6) Restore to the Custom 3.1 firmware and it should fix your problem

I know it sounds weird, but this really worked for me.. The 2.0.2 firmware is only used to get it working with QuickPwn RC3. You only use it to get the phone into DFU mode. You should really give it a try.

fxit - I tried that Push Fix months ago on my GFs 2G iPhone - Apple blocked it after a month and it stopped working...

Yea, I don't understand it either... If push doesn't work on hacktivated iphones, then why does it work perfectly on my 3GS 3.0.1...

I'm not to sure about it, but I think the "activate unchecked" will not update the baseband... Can anyone confirm?

Refer to this post.

You have to use a DevTeam tool to get it into DFU mode!! Follow fxit's instructions above and you will come right (He has the Windows method, I just needed to use PwnageTool to put my phone in DFU). It's I said earlier about the white DFU screen.

You haven't mentioned if your iPhone is factory unlocked or software unlocked. iTunes 9.0.1 won't have any issues using v3.0[JB].

If you are network locked, then don't update to 3.1 until the new jailbreaking tool is released.
 
wow you guys post lots.. cant make guide today as I just got home now.

WRT to 3GS 3.1 JB... It does install Cydia 100% and I am not d/l cycorder as the 3GS has a vid camera
 
hehe sometimes i wonder if iphone users spend more time jailbreaking and restoring than using it as a phone :-)
 
Some guidelines on asking for help when it comes to jailbreaking/unlocking etc

google first, don't ask stupid questions like "will itunes 9.0.1 connect to my iphone on 3.0", these answers are all over the place

check the first page of this forum first (gen info link in my signature, thanx fxit)
Provide specifics of your phone, even if you did so before, it's hard to keep track otherwise, e.g. Vodacom iP3Gs (FaNIX, where'd you buy your phone?)
Provide the software state of your phone, even if you did so before, it's hard to keep track otherwise, eg. "OS3.0.1, on file with cydia @ version 3.0, previously/currently jailbroken?"

as for network locked non SA 3Gs', you will ALWAYS struggle with push notifications, FaNIX, yes, you can try restore to firmware that does not activate and then activate with AT&T sim, this should work, however, be EXTREMELY sure the firmware you restore to does not contain any baseband upgrade, as this will permanently disable your ability to remove the network lock

if you want to go into a conversation regarding your specific needs for jailbreak/unlock, do so via email, mine's [email protected], and i'm always willing to help provided you've done at least some digging on your own, i help with the tough stuff, you really can figure out the basics yourselves....

FOR NETWORK LOCKED (NON SA PURCHASED) PHONES, DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR 3G, 3GS OR 4 TO ANY FIRMWARE THAT YOU DID NOT PWN OR A CONFIRMED PWNED COPY YOU DOWNLOAD YOURSELF, JUST BECAUSE FIRMWARE CAN BE JAILBROKEN, DOES NOT MEAN IT CAN BE NETWORK UNLOCKED, YOU CAN ONLY UPGRADE TO CUSTOM FIRMWARE, OR NEW FIRMWARE THAT CONTAINS A BASEBAND WITH A KNOWN UNLOCK

X
