i know
it's what i did
it's still annoying though, have to restore 3 times in stead of once....
I knowI guess they removed it so that locked n00bs won't accidentally update their baseband

Can you not just update to 3.1, then put in white DFU mode and install the custom FW?
That is only 2 restores then![]()
maybe you should include this in your sig! lolSome guidelines on asking for help when it comes to jailbreaking/unlocking etc
google first, don't ask stupid questions like "will itunes 9.0.1 connect to my iphone on 3.0", these answers are all over the place
check first page of this forum first (link in my signature, thanx fxit)
Provide specifics of your phone, even if you did so before, it's hard to keep track otherwise, e.g. Vodacom iP3Gs (FaNIX, where'd you buy your phone?)
Provide the software state of your phone, even if you did so before, it's hard to keep track otherwise, eg. "OS3.0.1, on file with cydia @ version 3.0, previously/currently jailbroken?"
as for network locked non SA 3Gs', you will ALWAYS struggle with push notifications, FaNIX, yes, you can try restore to firmware that does not activate and then activate with AT&T sim, this should work, however, be EXTREMELY sure the firmware you restore to does not contain any baseband upgrade, as this will permanently disable your ability to remove the network lock
if you want to go into a conversation regarding your specific needs for jailbreak/unlock, do so via email, mine's [email protected], and i'm always willing to help provided you've done at least some digging on your own, i help with the tough stuff, you really can figure out the basics yourselves....
FOR NETWORK LOCKED PHONES, DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR 3G OR 3GS TO ANY 3.1 THAT YOU DID NOT PWN OR A CONFIRMED PWNED COPY YOU DOWNLOAD YOURSELF, JUST BECAUSE 3.1 CAN BE JAILBROKEN, DOES NOT MEAN IT CAN BE NETWORK UNLOCKED, YOU CAN ONLY UPGRADE TO CUSTOM 3.1 SOFTWARE
nope, custom fw requires a pwned device, so can't go from 3.1 (not pwned) to custom 3.1, can only go from 3.0 or 3.0.1 (jailbroken) to 3.1 pwned
so from 3.0.x, restore to 3.1 official, then restore down to 3.0, then jailbreak, then restore to 3.1 pwnd
Is anyone using "PING!" Wow.. what an awesome app! Me and my partner both have iphones to it works REALLY well for us

Ping is not bad, but I deleted it. Actually using WhatsApp - feels a lot more refined. Anyone in your phonebook that has also WhatsApp will automatically appear in your list too
There is also IPush*t (*=i) and MessiIM but I like WhatsApp the most out of all of them. WhatsApp is also working on adding "chat" to their BlackBerry app so then it'll be free messaging between iPhones and BBs too
Instant Messengers like IM+ and BeeJive aren't bad, but I prefer apps that don't log you out, ever![]()
I can check for you guys if push works on the 3.1 Custom firmware.. how do I?

It wouldn't be a problem with the firmware if it didn't work. Would be a problem with the software unlocked phone.
Not sure what app you can use to test it.
Okay I am sure some of you are going to RIP me another orificebut I have to ask.
I tether my iPhone 3G to my laptop and never get GREATspeeds.
Am I wrong in thinking that the Apple iPhone 3G is HSDPA compatible? My brother has a Samsung Omnia and live next door and get upwards of 2.5 mbps I on the other hand never get above 1.5 mbps.
----------------
Now playing: Ne-Yo - Part Of The List
via FoxyTunes
iPhone is HSDPA compatible as far as I know...
If so how come he gets 2.5mbps & I can never get higher than 1.5mbps we live all of 20 meters apart.![]()

LOS?
Have you tried using the phones directly next to each other?
If you officially unlocked, try updating to 3.1 - it contains new baseband firmware 05.11.07
I am using 3.0 ATM I am just scared I am going to lose all my JAILBREAK and HACKULO.US apps. Is there a way to copy all the Hackulo.us app files and reinstall them later (I downloaded them all. I didn't just install them) I have over 160 apps on my phone and would hate to download them ALL again
Any guarantee the new baseband will fix my speed problems?
