OK... so what I want to know is:
I have an iPhone 3GS running 3.1 with OLD baseband. It is USA stock and has 3.1 on file with cydia.
Can/How would I jailbreak it to 3.1.2 with blackra1n? Will it be any different to what I have now?

you can't
blackra1n requires apple firmware to be restored to the device, which you can never do
your rule is, you can only ever use pwnage tool to build custom firmware and restore your device to, nothing else (there is a windows version of pwnage tool being built by another dev team, but that's months off)

anyone jailbreak a 3G with blackra1n yet? mine's just sitting there doing nothing, 3gs worked like a charm tho

Okay I have not read up on all the blackra1n hoopla. So let me ask the stupid question. I have OS3.0 on my phone jailbreak using redsn0w .72. I have downloaded OS3.1 but have yet to install. If I do install will I be able to jailbreak my phone using blackra1n? I understand that I will lose ALL my hackolus apps but will I be able to reinstall hackolus and download the apps again?

I'm personally going to avoid jailbreaking, there seems to be an ego battle between hackers and I'm not comfortable with it.

iphone 3G? i have the same issue, supposed to take 30 seconds, just stays at running, let me know if it works?

What OS you using? If on Windows7 or Vista maybe try compatibility mode although I'm running Windows7 and it worked without using compatibility mode..

Somethings off there... have you checked the phone's menu for the blackra1n icon? Perhaps disconnect, reboot, check for the icon, if it's not there try again...
I assume when you opened the app on your desktop you clicked on "make it rain"?
Stupid question I know but that's about the most complicated aspect of installing the app... It's that simple....

Do a hard reset on your phone (hold down power and home button) run Blackra1n and then power on phone, it took 2 goes for me to get it too work

had the same issue with 3G, gave up eventually, 3Gs worked prefect right away
