WWDC 2010 is scheduled for 7-11 June. The new 4th gen iPhone "should" be introduced officially then :)
 
A friend just broke his screen on his iPhone 3g by dropping it. I looked online and the only place I could find locally was the ifixipods.co.za They charge about 1,250 to fix it. And igear.co.za who charge 1,300. Are there any other reliable services out there anyone is aware of that is less? I was thinking of fixing it myself by ordering off of ebay, but that usually takes around 3 weeks to get here and I know he won't want to wait that long. THanks.

if you prepared to wait for postage.. got a battery from them for my ipod. arrive in 2 weeks with all tools and instructions to repair it myself.

Thanks, they actually sell them on ebay for about 80 rand including the tools including shipping. Will take a few weeks to get here though. Was looking for a quick fix. I tried ifixipods.co.za, they wanted 1,100 rand just for the exact same part that ebay seller are selling for less than 100. That is quite a markup! They only charge 200 rand for the labour.
 
I would hate to open my baby :( But would have to if the screen cracked... cant wait for the 4G! Rumor has it that is won't be network locked as Verizion has hinted at them selling it as well as AT&T. The 4.0 jailbreak is already made and waiting for the 4G to come out so it can be released and Apple dont block it before it comes out.

Lets all hope it is true :)

R80 for an iPhone screen and digitizer, that's damn cheap!
 
hey folks

so here's the news: You can cut up your vodacom/mtn sim card to the size of a micro sim and stick it inside a US baught iPad 3G and it works :) two things to notice a) not network locked b) micro sims are just mini sims on a smaller bit of plastic, the mini sim has 2-3 additional contact points, but you will notice if you remove it from your phone, these additional ones are the ones that has never had a contact pin on them, no wear and tear, so, really redundant :)

so good luck to you who know people who can send you iPads from this side of the world, I know at least 5 folks that'll be getting theirs from me ;)
 
Seems I shot myself in the foot:

My uncle went the US this week,I asked him to get me & 32gb iPod Touch 3G to replace my JB iTouch 8gb (that has no space on due to Cydia apps & "free apps".

Went to collect it today,every price you see in the US u include a 9,5% sales tax on top of the price,because he ordered thru Amazon there was no sales tax & therefore the price gap between the 32gb & 64gb models is rather small,so he got me a 64gb model!

That was excellent,however this newer stock,I later find out,comes with OS 3.1.3 out the box,and they is no jailbreak at all for this device with this OS!!!

After some research & trying out some stuff,I am not able even to downgrade to OS 3.1.2 due to Apple not signing these firmware any more.

So I have a shiny new 64gb iTouch 3G that cannot be jailbroken at present,no Cydia & no "free" apps

I am going to hang ten for next month for OS 4 and hopefully a jailbreak will be out very soon...

BTW: the Cortex A8 CPU & double the ram of the iTouch 3G realy shows,this thing flys in web,apps,vidz,games (trial one's that I have!) Its a good deal faster than my iTouch 2G & blows the pants off an iPhone 3G...
 
Heya All

Not sure if there a thread on Bluetooth but does anyone know of an app that i can send images or songs from my Iphone 3GS (non jailbreak due to firmware) to any other device?
 
There is a app called PhotoShare but not sure about sharing MP3's, might be against Apples copyright

Hi erickza

Is this on the SA or US itunes as the photoshare on SA itunes is a social network app?
