Just sync your iPhone on the same computer with iTunes that you're syncing your Touch to. Simple as that :)
 
I've just tried the updated version of the Google Mobile app on the iPhone featuring Google Goggles. It works very well - was able to identify the Smarties I was eating by picture and barcode and also found out I paid R4 more than I would have paid at Woolies! :D

You are right in that there is now an untethered jailbreak, however these require the phone to be activated first.
Hacktivation (activation crack) is not possible on 3.1.3, only 3.1.2 and lower afaik, and since the phone is brand new, there are no SHSH blobs stored for older firmwares, so you will not be able to downgrade.

If the phone is on 3.1.2, then you may be in luck.

Download f0recast tool, and at the bottom it should say what firmware the connected iPhone is. Then we can decide your phones fate from there :P

@unskinnybob: That will NOT work. Apple stops signing older firmware, so unless you were previously jailbroken and on that firmware, with SHSH blobs saved by Cydia or on your PC, you will not be able to restore.

a) to activate, insert a sim card from the carrier your phone is locked to and connect to itunes, it's that simple
b) to hactivate, you must be jailbroken
c) to jailbreak a phone that's never been pwned before (hard DFU mode jailbreak), you must be activated

you can't do any of the above, because I assume you don't have the sim needed in a) or you tossed it when you did have it

unless you have a sim card for the carrier the phone is locked to, you cannot activate your phone
if you can't activate, you can't jailbreak
if you can't jailbreak, you can't unlock

you're stuffed

the upcoming shatter jailbreak is another hard jailbreak, and will happily save your skin, get tinyumbrella and make sure your phone's shsh blobs are saved for at least iOS 4.1, because that's what shatter is being developed for

that way you are sure you can always rever to iOS 4.1 on the phone

now you wait for shatter and the instructions that go with it

DO NOT UPDATE THE FIRMWARE TO ANYTHING ELSE YET - I, and everyone else on here who has a clue will just tell you they told you so

also, next time someone you know or you go to the UK (or USA if that's where you bought the phone) get a prepaid sim from the carrier the phone is locked to so you won't have this issue again

sound piece of advice - ask these questions before buying an iphone from anywhere other than vodacom, for those of you who still haven't noticed, the are carrier locked

PS: I've forgotten how much fun this is.... lol

:p I know, people think they grasp the whole jailbreak/unlock thing and then they start mis-advising people! :o DOH!

And unfortunately I don't have as much time as I used to to be able to post here, but I do pop in every now and again and try to answer where I can.

Going busy but good thanks though, how's everything that side?

iPhone-wise I just updated my iPhone 4 to 4.1 and jb'd it with Geohots Limera1n which was released today :) (they decided to hold back on SHatter after geohot released his outta nowhere!)

How is limera1n working out for you fxit?

Judging by comments on Twitter quite a few people are having problems: it doesn't work, is stuck on a reboot screen, etc

Engadget said that some of their Apple icons have disappeared are are still not there after a restore

No major problems here. Done two iPhone 4's now.
My own one worked first time, the other iP4 I had to do twice until Cydia showed up, and then it had an ownership problem so I had to manually restore ownerships after. No disappearing icons or anything like that.

Weird how two phones are never the same!

There must be a trick then.

In order to have a US account, you need a credit card and a US address. Only once you've entered your cc details can you change it to None and 'redeem' a voucher.

Decided to take a plunge and happy to report that everything is working fine on my side too. A few crashes and some slowdowns, but nothing major. All apps (Cydia and Appstore) are working fine.

There must be a box below the CC where you can enter a voucher number - just enter it there and ignore anything to do with the CC...

Yup - no problems - did a 3GS and iPhone 4 this weekend with no mishaps - the tweets on twitter was before geohot fixed limera1n.

There is, but it won't accept the page without a CC and an address in the country.
