The Kia Stinger Thread

They won't discontinue it. I believe it's a relatively good seller in the US & Australia. Not so much in the Euro countries but give it time.

They also won't pull it in SA as Kia SA knows it's a halo car & only a small amount are being brought into SA.

As stated in another thread last I heard for a while one can't purchase new Infiniti cars in SA. It is a special import at best.

I meant discontinue it in SA of course.

Kia has announced that its Stinger GT will come to South Africa, and will be available for R859,995.

The car aims to take on the high-powered four-door sedans from the likes of BMW and Mercedes-Benz, and packs impressive performance on paper.

Kia’s most powerful and fastest-accelerating production car ever made, the Stinger GT features a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine.

R860k? Loooool keep it...

I would be very surprised if this thing sells. If you want a nice looking non german sedan the Alfa would be a better buy.

That price, no man!!!
And only available for purchase online? Where do we test drive? Can't just drop R895k from internet reviews!

R860k for a car with a wobbly centre console, refer to CarWow review.

Kia announces SA pricing and specs for 270km/h Stinger

Kia Motors South Africa has announced an R859 995 pricetag for its 272kW Stinger GT sports sedan to be launched here in August.

This, along with a comprehensive list of comfort and safety features, comes standard with Kia’s industry-leading unlimited kilometre/ five-year warranty, as well as five years’ worth of roadside assistance and a five-year/90 000km maintenance plan.

The four-door gran turismo, the first high-performance car from the Korean brand, will compete against the likes of premium German rivals like the 260kW Audi S5 (R936 000), and BMW’s 440i coupe which produces 240kW and is priced at R898 801.

The Stinger’s powered by a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine that also musters 510 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful and fastest-accelerating Kia to date. With power fed to the rear wheels via an eight speed automatic, the Stinger sprints to 100km/h in a claimed 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 270 km/h. This engine was recently named on the authoritative Ward’s ’10 Best Engines’ list for 2018.

“There has been notable interest and excitement in Stinger since we announced its imminent arrival two weeks ago,” comments Gary Scott, CEO of Kia Motors South Africa.

The SA-bound Kia Stinger GT Stinger will be fully loaded with technology, convenience and safety features. These include front and rear park distance control with reverse camera and around view monitoring system, a head-up display, and an infotainment and navigation system with 20cm colour screen.

A wireless smartphone charging pad is part of the deal, as is Bluetooth with voice recognition and Apple CarPlay (it is Android Auto ready once this becomes available in SA).

Providing the ear candy is a 15-speaker, 720 watt Harman/Kardon audio system with under-seat mounted subwoofers.

Cruise Control and a Blind Spot Detection system are also part of the package, while the safety’s further complemented by stability control, seven airbags and Isofix child seat anchors.

Passengers sit in in ultra-soft Nappa leather seats. The driver and front passenger’s seats are electrically adjustable, and also heated and ventilated, while the driver’s seat features adjustable bolsters, lumbar support, seat cushion extension and a memory function.

A standard-fit sunroof with power sunshade completes the generous spec sheet.

The car also boasts electronically adjustable suspension which stiffens and softens to match driving conditions. The driver can select from five drive modes: Personal, Eco, Sport, Comfort and Smart, which adjusts the suspension and the steeing feedback.

Due to the limited number of Stingers available to the South African market in 2018, the vehicle won't be available through the Kia dealer network. Instead, Stinger will feature a bespoke direct sales experience facilitated by Kia Motors South Africa through the dedicated Stinger website www.kiastinger.co.za.

Customers who register on the Stinger website will receive full details regarding the sales and ordering process later this month, and will be able to order their vehicles at the same time.

Kia are monumentally retarded at that price point...

For R15k more you can get a 5.0l Mustang....

The Kia is at least R100k overpriced for the brand it is.

Closer to R200k over priced.

And anyone who buys a stinker and not a BMW is a prize ******** at this ludicrous pricing.

Well BMW/Merc/Jag/Audi....

Basically any real luxury marque... I would drop R800k on a Jag WAY before I'd drop R800k on a Kia....

This is awesome. If I was going to waist that amount of money on a car I would definitely consider this.

If I was going to drop that much in a car, it’d probably be the BMW 340.

Good man, although I have nothing against the Stinger, if I had the money it would go to a manufacturer with a solid history in designing performance RWDs, and that is not KIA.

Most sensible people would choose a tried and tested German, Mustang or Jag over a Kia doing it for their first time. Too many variables and unknowns even if their equipment level may be higher...
