Pumping along at 1 mb/s with about 2 hours to go. Although it is going to cost over R100 to download on HSDPA I reckon it is still worth it.

Okay I don't understand this.
Did an upgrade through Synaptic on Karmic, it used over a GB of bandwidth overnight and didn't finish - error said it couldn't get the packages.
Doesn't seem logical at all...

So much better than 9.10. Stable and fast. I am an Ubuntu convert again!

Well check your wireless compatibility with Lucid Lynx first, I have a RaLink RT3090 wireless adapter in my LG X130.
I havent installed Ubuntu yet, still running it in the live usb/cd setup.
Maybe I should install and see what happens?

Up and running on Lucid on my netbook. Did the upgrade via wireless, so no probs with wireless here. Had some hassle getting my K3565 modem working, but downloading the latest vodafone connect driver from Betavine (and a reboot) sorted that out (this message from the netbook via vodacom).

Early impressions - can't see too much difference to 9.10 as far as operation goes; not to sure about the purple bg, preferred the brown; I hate the LH control buttons, but will give them a chance.

I'm busy downloading the alternate Kubuntu ISO at the mo to upgrade my two desktops and hope it finishes before the pumpkin hour (I will still have 9GB left on my cap :()

Running on my HP 311 netbook:
Intel Atom N270 @ 1.6GHz
1GB RAM
160GB HDD
nVidia Ion
Alps touchpad

Initial boot still has a problem with the B43 driver for the Broadcom wireless. This causes it to hang after Grub. My fix is to edit the grub line ("e") to add "nolapic" at the end of your boot line (the one ending in "splash"), then press CTRL + x to boot. The boot should work, but it's not an ideal case. Then edit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
and blacklist the b43, ssb and b43-pci-bridge packages by adding the lines
Code:
blacklist b43
blacklist ssb
blacklist b43-pci-bridge
After this, the system should boot, and you can use the proprietary STA driver from Broadcom for wireless.

The other problem is regarding the Alps touchpad. For a while now, there has been an issue where the touchpad is not recognised as an Alps, but edge-scrolling works (however, more advanced features do not). A hack was mentioned on the web where the driver was modified, and the Alps was then recognised, but edge-scrolling etc is disabled (and changes to settings in System -> Preferences -> Mouse do not work). A fix is hopefully coming with the new kernel release, but I haven't been able to resolve it properly yet.

Another problem that people may encounter with nVidia cards is that the proprietary driver that is available through the repositories doesn't include libcuda.so! Thus, CUDA programs do not work. However, the same version driver from nVidia includes CUDA, and installing that is quick and easy, and gives you CUDA support back.

Just installed it on my wifes replacement desktop (a 530 celeron, 512MB DDR-800, 80GB IDE) and I'm really impressed. Must say that I need to upgrade her RAM to at least 1GB to run OpenOffice as snappy as her current 7.10 setup she has (thats a 3800+ Sempron with 1GB DDR-400).

On the LH buttons, heard bad reviews but I love it. No finger trouble for me.

Great improvement and feels more stable. Had to decided if I move her to Arch or keep her on the 10.04 LTS .... now I'm thinking of dumping my Arch for the LTS ... tempting.

Wat do you guys think of the entail boot, my iso just takes you straight to the test Linux or install Linux option and i wanna make sure my disk is ok before I use it to change things. Also my 9.10 refuses to upgrade when I try update from the disk it tells me to insert the disk ...makes me sad.

Up and running on my Acer Aspire One A110L with the slow 8GB SSD.

Nice and snappy so far... Haven't tested that much yet, though.

Sound is fine, wifi is fine, graphics are fine.

You should check the md5sum of the iso. You can compare the md5sum to the md5sum that is displayed wherever you downloaded the file.

As far as I understand, you can't upgrade from the desktop iso (i.e. the one with the live install). If you want to upgrade, you need to use the "alternative". But on the "alternative" disc, you don't get the live boot.
