HJ, i kinda disagree with you, i would definately pay big money for Torres, his pace and finishing touch is unbelievable. MU will also make a true legend out of him, his loss i guess.

Bring Benitez to MU as an assitant coach and you'll get Torres at the discount figure of £20m thrown in. That's an idea. 
and by popular vote, Carr is being exited from Newcastle and MU were previously linked to buy him - hopefully not this time round, even if on a free transfer.
What about Everton's Lescott? I know we don't need defenders but he could be a possibility...
ps: Huntelaar will no doubt remain in Holland if Van Basten goes to Ajax

Lescott is solid as well, but he plays in the middle doesn't he? After having such a great season he might not be happy with the bench...

Oic. No I wouldn't do that either. That is just too much to spend on one player...You could buy a whole team for that money. Or build a great youth system.

I wouldn't pay 70m - not that he is not worth it - it is just too much for 1 player and if he, say gets injured, all the worse. I still feel Ronaldo will one day go to RM, but just not now.
