The Mazda CX-5 Thread

Ok thanks for your opinion, really appreciate it
I've driven both, I'd have the diesel. That engine and auto combo is a gem. That engine is tried and tested as well. Not even a competition in my opinion.

Ok thanks Vegeta, I'm trying both atm and seeing which deal offers the best. I think I will appreciate both tbh.

Also if they're the same price the AWD system might come in handy.

Guys just so you know the new EU firmware that contain Android Auto & Carplay has leaked and people have sucessfully flashed it. I'm not sure if AA works without the new USB ports that come with the upgrade kit.

They have now also announced AA & Carplay for the US in September.

I wouldn't flash the firmware yet, I would wait for the Australian version which matches our region.(for warranty purposes the dealer might find it strange that you have EU firmware, not sure if they'd mind but who knows)

It's just a waiting game but surely you'll be cruising with AA & Carplay during the December holidays.

I found out that AA & Carplay does not work on the new firmware without the new USB ports. You need to get them installed for the firmware to recognise that it should make AA and carplay available. It's basically just disabled if the hardware is not present. :/

Sounds like a scumbag move.
Well Mazda will provide the part and retrofit it to any older models which is better than other brands that just forget about older models and just tell you to buy the new one.

There is a reason, strictly speaking the new usb port is only needed for carplay due to apple's unique chip to recognise the usb cable, apple being apple using proprietary stuff. Android auto can work with the old usb port but the phone will drain whilst on charge due to it only supplying 0.5a
Guess they don't want the complaints about phones draining and iphones not recognised, doesn't reflect well on them at the end of the day.

It's a pita for tinkerers but necessary for the rest of their clients. Explaining usb power outputs and Android battery drain to my dad or granny does not sound fun to me.

Hi Guys, just wanted to know if it's worth getting a service plan on a 2015 Mazda CX-5.

I was quoted the following by Motorite
2 years/40k km 7k without cambelt and 11k with belt
3 years/60k km 10.5k without cambelt and 14.5k with cambelt included.

Mileage is +-45k km.

Is this worth it and which one is best to take or should I do it out of pocket.

How much does a normal service cost by the way. I reckon probably normal service will be 2k - 2.5k and 90k km probably 6k-7k.

The vehicle is a 2015 Mazda CX-5 2.2 AWD Diesel.

Would appreciate your feedback on hopefully my future vehicle.

Would not bother with service plan.

Check how much mazda charges for service and check if car even still uses cambelt, most has chains by now.

All the skyactiv's use a timing chain. In 40k km you will service the car twice at R2-2.5k ea

Thanks for the info Vegeta. So the chain is less expensive and easier to service. Why would they quote me for a cambelt service then. So you saying the 60k and 75k will be about 2-2.5k. What wouod the 90k service be.

Which services have you done already and what did it cost each time.

I did the 105k and that was R2100. I see yours is the diesel, awd and i assume auto so maybe put aside R3000 just to be safe. Mine is petrol, manual and 2wd so I would assume a faster cheaper service.

The chain needs to be inspected and if it's in good condition it will not require service or replacement. If that's the case the "major" service becomes pretty much a regular service

Timing chains don't need to be changed like cambelt unless it's damaged.
