i recently moved from Milnerton to Parklands. Right up to the day before the move my 4mps ADSl was working as it should in Milnerton. When we arrived it Parkland, we waited 2 weeks before our line was installed. First problem, I was told my modem needed replacing but when I connected it, it worked just fine.

No one told me that Parklands was in the porocess of getting upgraded for the 20 and 40 mps lines, but that untill the upgrade was finised, the best I could hope for was 2mps.

But it got worse, when I complained about the speed, Telkom discovered a problem and sent out some one who sorted the problem, expect we could not connect - it then took another two days for Telkom to discover tht someone was using my account and chnaged my password, then discovered that some how my line had become merged with someone else - when some one came to sort out the problem - I was finally told about the line speed and we downgraded to 2mps.

Now i work from home - a 4mps uncapped line was just fine for business and pleasure when I lived in Summer Greens, Woodstock and Milnerton but a 2mps line in Parkland is useless, the line is forever going down, even small downloads get droped halfway.

The Call Centre Agents were very polite and kept apologising - even when I sreamed shoted, begged and pleaded, but as I told themn - stop aplogising and fix the problem!

If he relies apon the an internet to do work, then surely it would be a factor to consider before moving?>

i did not move but experience more or less a simplar nightmare. "they" upgraded our lines from copper to fibreoptics. and the nightmare started.

i'm having problems with telkom for almost three weeks now. then my phoneline work, then not. sometimes hours, other times days. as times there's very heavy static on the line. other times its as dead as a doornail.

the same with my adsl. had been all but dead for the past ten days. worked only for a few hours in that time (ten days).

various technicians visit the premises. plugged some line tester in and left to return later and remove it and say there's nothing wrong. one technician told me i've got a "siht" phone and other equipment and that my adsl pots filter is dead.

replaced the splitter and pots filter and no change. still the same.

for the time being the phone work but often when its ringing and you answer it goes dead or got very heavy static. both on a cordless and a normal phone.

and my adsl line that synced at 4mb now suddenly only sync at 1536kbps after 7 years.

i'm at the end of my LINE as i simply can not deal with telkom's incompetence any longer.
