If you are under the influence, it makes it worse not the other way around.

You really shouldn't comment on legal things... They seem to escape you. He almost definitely won't get a suspended sentence, there is too much scrutiny on this case for them to be lenient.

This thread is constantly in view in terms of front forum page. What continually grates me is this "allegedly" part. Is there any doubt? Can mods just not remove this word from the title?

Pretty much has to stay allegedly until he has been convicted... Unless he pleads guilty...

Normal civilised people struggle to comprehend what drives a sicko to be a sicko. People usually associate what they think a stereotypical rapist pedo to be and conclude the false idea that it requires years of torment, psychological abuse and so forth. At age 20 not much has happened in a kids life yet so it's the fat 45 year old truck driver who people are sceptical about.

The frustrating reality is someone in your family could be one, or a close friend, no matter their age or their perceived upbringing.

You have studied law, but believe that Dros can be held liable for the protection of children? Please tell me in what opinion is that based, and maybe provide comment on the case law which I linked.

I write and read commercial documents too. Those disclaimers are very wishy washy all round and provide cold comfort.

You studied law, and think a person "if" convicted of rape, or at the very least child molestation/abuse will get a suspended sentence?

Bleh. Does this only apply to white children then (I'm assuming this was a white girl)? Media coverage doesnt seem to have a problem declaring it rape when it relates to black or coloured children?

iirc, one of the original News24 articles mentioned he was also charged with drug possession.
