Agreed completely. I am however willing to be that very few cases have this type of evidence.

Not this type or this much, but most still should have enough.
 
Having read most of the comments in this thread some thing occurred to me.Because of being a minor people are extra sensitive and get far more aggressive compared to an adult being raped it. Rape is rape whether a minor or an adult and should be treated equally, yet sentencing doesn't reflect this, raping a minor gets far more attention which makes me feel that adult rape is far less "rapey" in the eyes of the public and opinion. female rape whether a minor or adult both are equally vulnerable in their own right, and when an adult male is raped by a female adult its a big fat joke.Just an observation..... Yes it's a minor and tricky subject but the biases astounds me in general.
 
Just to put into perspective. A week before this news story broke another news story where a 6 year old girl and 10 year old boy was raped by the same man.

A KwaZulu-Natal man has been arrested after allegedly raping a six-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy on the same day.

According to police reports, the 35-year-old from Hammarsdale approached his first victim while the boy was on his way to a local store.

“The suspect was driving a marked company vehicle when he asked the boy for directions to the Roman Catholic church,” explains KZN SAPS spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele.

She says the boy reportedly got into the truck with the man but he drove past the church.



“The suspect drove past and stopped in a deserted area where he allegedly raped the boy,” Colonel Mbele told Drum.

The alleged rapist reportedly drove the little boy back to where he’d been picked up after the alleged incident.

The suspect then allegedly went to a house in the area where he found two children playing.

“He took a six-year-old girl and raped her too,” Colonel Mbele alleges.

A case of rape was opened at the Inchanga Police Station and both victims described the same man to the police.

“Investigations led the police to a company in Hammarsdale where they found a lead on the man who was driving the company vehicle,” reveals Colonel Thembeka.

The suspect was subsequently apprehended on Friday morning and will appear at the Pinetown Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

- 6 year old girl is raped
- Rapist is a stranger
- Both appeared in court

Why then not the same outrage, press coverage and number of people attending court?

People seem to forget the Gupta fake news campaign where they wanted to distract the population from rampant government corruption and failings by promoting white danger in the press and social media. They created their own newspaper and TV station for this purpose. Now with those gone I bet social media will be used more to spread white danger news for distraction purposes.
Fuel is rapidly rising, currency was declared junk by rating agencies, country is in recession and more jobs are being lost despite population increasing. Government desperately need as many distractions as possible.
It doesn't surprise me the state didn't ask him to plead despite overwhelming evidence.

It has more coverage because it happened in a popular restaurant chain in which many people would think their kids are safe. Not out in the street or some random place / someones home.

It is because we are naturally protective of children. There could be many reasons for this, one of which being that we instinctively know that if something happens to human children, the human species might die out.

So when something hurts a child, we react with more emotion. We are more concerned.

This is not to say that an adult being raped is not serious - it is extremely serious! It is just that, we value children often more than we value ourselves.

When you drive around in a parking lot, are you more worried about hitting a child, or hitting an adult? If you had to swerve to either hit an adult, or hit a child, which would you pick? Most of us would swerve to hit the adult if we had to choose, and that brings me to another point - children are more fragile than us.

This poor child will be more harmed than an adult would be, if the adult was raped. Again I am not saying that rape is not a terrible and disgusting crime - it is. And adults are also scarred for life - mentally and physically. However, the scarring endured by this little girl will be far worse.

I can't think that the media coverage and public outrage would be so different if both news stories happened in the US.

I don't agree, over your own children perhaps, some little brat putting up a tantrum in the middle of a store, you would like nothing better for it to choke on it's own tears and just to shut its trap, little kid wanders into traffic you would jump and risk your own life for your own kid most definitely, self preservation kicks for any thing other then your own, it's only those who actively ignore self preservation and danger.

I can honestly and unashamed say I wouldn't jump in a pit of vipers to save another kid period, would try and save the kid without endangering my own life directly.What I was rather referring to was genera balance and equality and example would be some one that kills 10 family members versus some that kills 10 random people, take it up a notch, a minor that kills 10 minor family members versus and adult that kills 10 random minors at a school.

Which do you think would get the most outrage, and it has nothing to do with instincts and as pointed out self preservation trumps it, in some instances your own family, so what you said is inherently baloney.

I am asking why the huge difference in public opinion and prejudgment in general, and to disprove your point, there is a huge difference in public opinion based on age, minors people go **** ape crazy, adults meh, elderly victim in their 80's people go **** ape crazy again.

Whether a minor an adult or the elderly, the public opinion differs massively and it's not strictly rape cases either, murder, theft, fraud ect, based on age, status and importance in society the public opinion is going to greatly differ, being a judge in a case like this is not even remotely fun.....
