Liverpool were good with 10 men, I think Koscielny has been impressive but it's still early.
I don't think arsenal were at their best . (period)

If there's one player that had a shocker it's the Wigan goalkeeper
 
Barton looks like a pedo. Rooney's playing like Heskey.
 
After this first round of matches none of the contenders played well enough to be considered champ material. Chelsea were shown too much respect as was United last night, both would not have come through against less spineless opposition. And Arsenal & 'Pool...well... drew.

I only watched the 1st half - I was hoping for result for Newcastle :whistle: but at 2-0 down it looked impossible so I decided to go to bed and watch the inside of my eyelids instead.
I see Rooney has continued his WC form in the EPL. He looks tired or something - must be from smoking all those cigarettes...

I think Rooney's form has something to do with the injury he had towards the end of last season while playing hero. It will take some time for him to get back to top flight again, I also think this will give Berbatov a chance to shine if played alongside Hernandez. Lets see how things work out for Utd in the next few weeks. :)

Newcastle played well in the first 20.
Rooney (I agree with zoopy3) - he never really gave himself time to recover properly - but at 24 and with his ability its sooner rather than later

Yeah, I also thought NUFC initially looked fairly good but the ManU pressure was relentless so the question ended being not if ManU were going to win but by how much they would.
Unfortunately for us non-ManU fans, Rooney will probably be back to his best sooner rather than later :p

Watched the first half of Arsenal vs Blackpool. Blackpool looked good going forward keeping the ball on the ground.

However their defence is terrible. Their LB put in the worst performance I have ever witnessed in the Prem :eek:

Too true. Though the problem isn't so much that we haven't faced a proper team rather it is that we haven't sorted out the chinks in our armour. Our defence wasn't that great throughout the entire game and in particular after the 3rd goal. We practically went to sleep. Those are the main worries as far as I can see...

On the hand, I'm pleasantly surprised by Kalou's performance... he's showing the makings of an Inzaghi-esque striker. Fox in the box and all that. Hopefully he can cement that type of play as we need a poacher badly. Let's see how he does when we play some sterner opposition...
 
On a side note... does anyone else picture a rabid Carlo Ancelotti slapping Martinez around saying "This is what you get for being the first to beat me, YOU HEAR ME"... in a La Coza Nostra kind of way? :D

I saw the highlights the Wigan keeper was horrific, 3 goals were pratically gifts.
 
After 30 minutes.... Newcastle United 2 - 0 Aston Villa!!!!!
