The Official NVidia Shield Thread

How often do you use these other applications?
I mainly download to my main PC and use Plex, but some episode downloads fail so this is where a streaming service comes in..

I usually don't d/l any of the content I'm interested in watching.
I tried Plex for a bit. Worked ok but I don't particularly need it.

I alternate between using all those channels (HBO and Showtime I'm only trying out on their trial period).

The paid content is preferable mainly because of convenience and reliability. It just works. Terrarium is fine for stuff not available to me elsewhere.

Re that Barry episode.
I tested to see how the download works. I used the Tea TV app on my PC. No issues. The episode downloaded and plays just fine.

What apps have you guys installed on your Shield?
Installed some android games for the kids, i think minecraft story mode, red ball 2, and ashpalt. Kids also playing fortnite and tombraider via geforce but it's a bit too laggy for me.
Also installed dstv and showmax apps but we mostly use Netflix, Youtube and then Amazone Prime.

I'm trying to side load. Do I need a file browser and which one is the minimalist since es file explorer went to ****.

You can also use Cetus play, download on your phone and the box, you can install an APK directly from your phone onto the box.

My receiver is much more softer now when CEC is enabled.

Via geforce now or streaming from your PC? I'm curious to hear how well the in house streaming over lan works.

It's dependent on how strong your internal network is.
I tried playing Mortal Kombat X on 2.4GHz and had lots of packet loss.
My router is far from my PC.

What GameStream basically does is a remote desktop connection to your PC.

If it is on LAN then you should have no problems with lag at all.

I'm playing Two Point Hospital via gamestream for my kids. They love the idea of giving me instructions on what to build and then watching the little people.

I play over 5ghz though and there is no lag or stutter

So what can I do with the Chromecast functionality on this Device?

What security patch date are you guys on? I'm only on May 5. I expected it to stay reasonably current.

I can't connect to my Plex server. I already added my IP to the list of devices that don't need Auth.
@DrJohnZoidberg ... Why TF is this even a setting on Plex? It's my home network.... everything should have access on my home network.

Did you at some point do the no authentication thing for your LG tv, remove the Shield's IP from that, it probably needs you to sign in or do the pin thing.

No I did not do anything through the TV, just the Shield.
For some reason, my LG tv does not need the No Authentication thing but the other TV does.

I disabled CEC as well to see if there would be a sound difference as my receiver plays a bit softer now with the Shield connected.
