On the Grandstream phone interface it is possible to from the web page to capture a remote wireshark. How do they do it?

Off the top of my head I would reckon thats console SSH action.

I suppose each to their own and each requirement gets appropriate tech. PfSense I prefer for security and stability. OpenWRT on AP's is a dream. Mikrotik I think is amazing however the amount of bugs and holes coming forward these days is a bit concerning.

Smoothwall was where it started in 2004 with ISDN modems. I have found that IPfire is ok as well.

Which system(s) have the best built in analytics? Tomato and Gargoyle both have a nice GUI for analytics but I'd prefer something more generic based on a good distro that I can run on a Raspberry Pi.
Best to go with bog standard OpenWRT and Luca. There are enough luca-apps to add to make it nice. What do you want to achieve?

I have a collection of MikroTik and OpenWRT routers.
My primary router is a MikroTik hAP ac² (quad core ARM). I bought it hoping to one day be able to install OpenWRT on it, but so far hasn't been possible.

not possible to flash a huawei B618 with something like DD-WRT or open WRT?
or anything other than the bog basic huawei software it comes with?

Whats the matter? I put OpenWRT on a RB951G

It doesn't seem so, unless the B618 goes by other names.

sad this, as it would be so much better with a better firmware.

RB951G is MIPS architecture, and OpenWRT is available for many of those MikroTiks.
I haven't seen anything for the ARM MikroTiks yet.

Edit: Some threads I've found:

After 4 hours I have now finally been able to get OpenWRT installed on a Mikrotik. Bliksem!
The online documentation is k@k!!!!!

I agree, its so confusing because it seems like the docs copy and paste from each other from different models.

I want to take a capture file on OpenWRT ad then from luci open it in wireshark real time. Now I've seen the web front end for the Grandstream phones do this. Anyone have any ideas???

I'm running openwrt on a Netgear Nighthawk X4S D7800, I didn't care for the stock firmware and I wanted something that I could have more control over, my favourite feature is the SQM (Smart Queue Management) which allows me to set Download and upload speeds for our fibre connection, LAN speeds and wireless speeds if I wanted. This is super handy if you have a gamer in your house as they'll be able to play without lagging.
