The official running thread™

If the weather behaves aiming for another 21km this weekend. Trying to get one in a month.
Eyeballing the weather hope the rain starts after the run not sure if thats going to happen otherwise I might just do slower run in the rain tomorrow.

Not sure what area you plan on running in tomorrow, but it seems the best time to get out will be before 9am. I'm doing a run from Constantia Nek up to the dams and back down from 7am, so hope I get a gap.

That being said, I don't mind the rain, as long as there isn't a driving wind behind it.

Gauteng side so it's rarely very light rain. Planing on being on the road by 515am with my headlamp

Interesting run... Cut it short once I feel wetness in my shoes I call it.

I set out early just after the rain cleared and got caught in a massive thunderstorm around 7/8km and decided to motor on home.

A bit of a bummer as I was even up at 3am eating my nutella, banana and peanut butter sandwich :) Would have likely been a sub 2 hour 21km too, but anyway till next time.

Have a 21km to make up for this weekend. Decided to try make the diy maltodextrine and fructose gels. Going with 80g worth of carbs flavored with lime juice this stuff is freaking delicious. Will feedback after the run as to how it went down.

DIIY Gel worked a treat.

Set out bright and early this morning with my head lamp on vest and bladder and hit the road, it was super misty and cool but a beautiful run.

I did the run "blind" I started my watch did look again ran to how I felt and only checked the first time at 20km and had some of the best speeds etc I have ever had also new half marathon pb - yay!

Also shaved loads of time of my last PB!

Pretty happy with that. Have a great weekend all!

Nice!

Where's the 'Top Results' thing from? Is it something new in Garmin? Haven't seen it before.

What recipe did you use for the gels?

Thanks! Legs are a bit stiff but zapping them with the massage gun works great :)

I just pulled that from strava it looked nice :)

Here is the link

The version I used for this run was 4:5 fructose:Maltodextrine + 2 tablespoons of lime juice SUPER YUMMY.

Thank you kindly. I only just added the 21km into the training, this is only my second one they do become very mental around the 18km mark. But enjoying it!

Nah, the 21kms are reserved for once a month. All the other weekends are 15km sat and 10km Sunday these are with a pram the 21km is solo waay to long for the little guy and also too early I like starting after 5am.

Ill do a 5km recovery pram walk tomorrow morning and Monday morning.

We also do 4km pram walks every evening otherwise little guy gets cabin fever. Soooo loads of steps every day

Next long weekend I may do 3*10km for each morning.

Fkn ell. Imagine going under 2 hours in the London marathon and not winning.
