Did Aramex say what they need anywhere in the mail? I haven't ever had to deal with Aramex support but perhaps you could try emailing a local support person and asking them if they can figure out what the hold up is.

Sorry that you're waiting so long. I know just how frustrating it can be. I'd threaten Gearbest with a refund, perhaps that will coerce some answers out of them.

Or maybe PM the Gearbest rep on here and see if he can shout at someone abroad to make things go a bit faster.

Good luck!

No I logged a support ticket requesting clarity as to why the package is not showing updates. Some guy called me after a couple of hours saying the package is in Dubai waiting for consolidation or something, have no idea what that means.

Regarding the rest, Gearbest seems to be using a "confirm your address for the 7th time" delay tactic. The first time they confirmed my address is correct but then 3 times mail me asking to confirm my shipping details to assist with the shipping.

So now all of a sudden they cant send the screen protector and cover via Middle East Express anymore for whatever reason.

Any other suggestions as to where I can buy. A place that's reliable.

We can look for a third partner who frequently orders and split the delivery costs because I also want a few covers.. or get @GearbestZA to help us.

I think doing it through GearbestZA would be best but I already told them to ship it with whatever way they feel like as I honestly am a bit pissed with them at the moment.

Might have to ask for refund on the covers cause they might send through mail which might even get here in 2018 lol, and the phone is gonna get here before the covers which is gonna be a risk for your phone.

Yes thats what Im afraid of. Think I should send them a mail and rather ask for a refund.

All my previous phones I bought from Geekbuying, had no issues at all. This is my first phone I buy from Gearbest, hope it doesn't disappoint.

Well simple test, reset to factory and then use the wrong password 3 time in a row when you switch on... If it locks with your phone number then you in the clear ;)

Update: Got a mail this morning, that the phone was shipped. Date on tracking shows it left the warehouse, Friday evening.

Noticed something strange. On Gearbest, when I opened my order, there's an option to download invoice next to tracking info. The phone was $242, but on this invoice it shows as $75 (sneaky).

And if customs figures this out, you are going to be nailed with a fine.

Aren't you looking to order some covers?

Customs won't care. It is your parcel, so your responsibility. There are numerous people caught by this and it is one of the biggest gripes about Gearbest/Aliexpress/Ebay/etc.
How do they figure it out? Do they open the parcels?

Not exactly sure, but I think it can be one of 2 things:
1. The invoice states it is electronic goods/cellphone/etc, but the value is low. If you get a customs agent that is on the ball, he might suspect something is up and then open the package to inspect.
2. Unlucky randomness. I'm sure they do random checks on parcels. Maybe opening 1 out of every 1000 (or whatever number) to check if the contents match the invoice.

I see the same with my order. The total on the invoice is less than half of what I paid. I wonder if I get hit with a fine if I can get a paypal refund of the difference?

Lol imagine if they catch you and they charge you like R500 extra
I did, why?
Dang it.. was looking to find a partner and order some to split the import costs.

Play your cards close to your chest dude - don't show your cards. I wouldn't be surprised if customs or SARS troll sites like these...

Slight topic change, but something I've been wondering. About two weeks ago I bought a Redmi Note 4 - happy with it, but I can't stand MIUI. Has anyone jumped over to Lineage OS? Happy / not happy with anything there?

A large part of me wanted to keep the phone stock, because of OTA updates and being able to use the fingerprint reader in the FNB app. But I miss the stock UI. And it would be nice to only have I want installed - not all the bloatware that comes with it.
