I ordered 2 Xiaomi Note 4's off Gearbest, here is a breakdown of the total Rand costs. Note that for some reason they shipped each device separately so DHL contacted me twice for customs clearance payments. I selected DHL expedited shipping option.
Total paid to Gearbest - R5698.21 this was a payment of $409.95 broken down as follows:
First DHL clearance payment - R320.73
Second DHL clearance payment - R318.63
Grand total - R6337.57
Total per device - R3168.79
Just a note that since i ordered it the price has dropped by $10

Gearbest, TinyURL etc seem to have a lot of fun when they fill out the customs forms, when sending phones to us. Something similar to: plastic toys, toothbrush, socks and various other random items have appeared on my form each time I buy from them, showing a total value usually around $ 3.99 
Is the Xiaomi Mi Max any good? My Huawei P7 is on its last legs and I'm looking for an upgrade but don't care much for expensive or fancy phones. I want to call, whatsapp, browse the occasional site, browse Facebook and use the occasional app if I'm forced to.
R4,399 seems like a good deal on Takealot. Just curious if anyone has any serious reservations about this particular one.

Any difference/restrictions between that version of the Mi Band 2 and the international one?

I bought 3 of the one I linked. 1 is linked to my Xiaomi, 1 to a Samsung S7 edge and another to an Iphone 7, all work fine. So....
None that I know of. Everything works, in English and it has a USB charger so no wall plug issues, just plug it into your phone's transformer.
You bought three Mi Band 2 watches ? now that is just being greedy
I was thinking of getting a second one...or wait until they bring out the Mi Band 3...

I can see if I can maybe utilize the 3rd reserved post for reviews. I may need some time to consolidate and check all the links and reviews. Will you be happy with a section for text/image based reviews and another section for Youtube reviews? There are some reviewers that cover most of the devices which means that the format/content should be pretty much the same across all the vids.
In other news, movement regarding my Note 4!
My accessories are also...well, somewhere:
I'll be a bit angsty if it gets here this week as I am going to the Northern Cape for work tomorrow and I will only be back at the end of the week

Flip you have patience....and massive trust with the SA Post Office and customs workers while they are tempted, staring at it for weeks on end, while not moving much. I don't have time for that - rather pay DHL and get it dropped off at my gate within 5 - 6 days of leaving China.
