The Official Xiaomi Thread

Hello fellow users,

A potential newbie Xiaomi user who needs guidance.

So I may get a second hand device & I was reading online of the complications 2nd hand owners have with the mi account lock after an update or reset and now they can't do anything with the device as they dont have communications with the previous owner.

Now as a potential owner, what am to look for or ask the previous owner so as to avoid having a mi lock surprise me in the future after an update or reset?

Also what is the purpose of having this mi account & mi cloud? Are they linked?

What other things do I need to look for when purchasing a Xiaomi second hand?

I know these are silly questions for you experienced Xiaomi users but I would really appreciate the guidance & advice so I am more aware.

Thanks

This is true guys, you could have scored big time adding the air purifier and the action cam. But the action cam showed sold out before I could check out
Any idea where one can get replacement filters for the purifiers locally? They don't seem to be avaliable locally.

Lots of new options at MIA (and TakeALot)

Redmi Note 7 will no doubt pitch. It may only launch in their biggest market outside China, i.e. India in beginning of March, so may be several months away for RSA, who knows. I have my eye on a Poco, but think I will wait for version 2. As soon as it is available in India, I think we are looking at Q2, I am going to try to get someone to bring one in for me.

Two drops later and my MI MAX is stuck on this screen. I've done wipe data and reboot and it just comes back to this screen. Any ideas?

Long shot but I would check if some of the hardware buttons aren't stuck in place. Volume down + power button takes you into a boot menu on certain phones.

462*15%(luxury goods markup)=533.60

533.60*7% import duty= 37.35
533.60*15%vat=80.04

Delivery=20.46

Total: 464+37.35+80.04+20.46= $601.85*13.84=R 8330

Something wrong with above? ...Phones have no import duty.

407 Euro = R6 424
Import vat = 15% (6 424 + 10%) = R1 059.96
DHL normally about R315 Shipping.

You looking roughly at R7 800
