The Note 8 is great, had one for about 6 months now, replaced my Note 4.
No issues, regular updates, works well. Battery time also great. ;)

Next will be the Note 12 when released in a few years... see the pattern

You can disable that too. Just tap the settings icon of that install screen and switch off Recommendations

No NFC on 9S

So you'd be digging for change @ Woolworths and Checkers.
 
Any good cases for the Note 8 available anywhere? Can't seem to find any and the few I did find seem to block the fingerprint reader (it's on the back right?)

Might have a couple, will have to check if its for the note 8 or note 10. Can't remember, bought them but never got around to use it.

Fingerprint reader is on the back upper middle... on mine it is.

Yes, thats how I understood it. Some of the cases I've seen available online doesn't seem to make provision for the fingerprint reader for some odd reason.

I see the price has jumped back to R3299 so guess I ordered just in time. Oddly Takealot hasn't shipped it yet despite ordering before 12:00. Shows a shipping estimate date of 12 Feb for some reason.

Also suggest purchasing 2. I found that after a year or 2 with my Note 4, it was impossible to find a decent cover replacement, so I always buy 2 covers when getting the new phone
 
I'll wait and see if it has one in the box and then go on a cover hunt once it arrives. Think I'll stick to using my S4 as daily driver since it's nice and small.

The Note 8 will stay home and act as media consuming/posting device.
