The Official Xiaomi Thread

Vodacom repair shop doesn't wanna fix my phone because the IMEI "isn't on their network" or something I can't understand. Even the Pakistanis repair places don't want to look at my phone.

I am so annoyed. I didn't expect it to be this bad. No more Xiaomi devices for me I guess.
Sucks to say this but you might have better luck ordering the part from AliExpress or some such and handing it in with the phone to an independent repair store and ask them to replace it.

Usually they turn down repairs if they don't have spares, as they won't risk buying a batch of parts for a relatively uncommon device.

I'm not sure anyone's going to be willing to work on it even if I get the part. I swear I felt like a leper with this device going to the repair shops and them all but shooing me out with, "We don't work on that brand".

I've had some tell me it's "part of the motherboard" so they can't fix it and I would have to replace the phone. That's BS because I've literally looked up the part and it's a power button attached to a flex cable that connects to the motherboard. I can't believe how many times in my life someone's tried to convince me something is "the motherboard" and I have to replace the phone just because they don't know how to fix it or can't be bothered to.

Mia.africa.com contact them they are the official suppliers
Did you read anything I wrote? I wrote what's wrong with the phone, and that I'd contacted MIA and they'd told me I had to return it through Takealot and now I'm currently busy with trying to arrange that but I have a feeling it's going to fall through because nobody can be arsed to help you when you have this stupid phone brand.

oh sorry, did you buy the phone through Takealot or Mia? When I had a broken phone from them 2 years ago I returned to them and I bought it from Takealot.

How are you finding the heater? Winter's almost over but planning for next year. Is there much benefit over using a normal heater with a smart plug?
It's pretty damn good. Although on the expensive side. The safety features are good. I accidently just tapped it with my knee and it switched off.

Thanks. I'll probably get one. Hopefully they throw in a price drop soon.

I saw today Vodacom has the Redmi note 10 Pro listed for R4599.... Out of stock of course.

I still haven't been able to find out if the Vodacom variant has dual sim disabled. On Facebook someone complained that their second sim slot was glued shut by Vodacom. Can someone confirm or deny? No point in getting it with single sim.

Anti-consumer behaviour like crazy if that is true. What the hell!

can confirm the second sim slot is not open and the firmware does not support VOLTE calling, wifi calling and has second sim disabled.

it also does not auto update to the current version, I needed to unlock bootloader to get access to all these things

The redmi 9 range supports vodacom's volte and vowifi.

I have the note 10 pro from them with single sim. wiht a Vodacom sim those functions work, with an mtn sim the features go away.

when I unlocked bootloader and updated to a newer ROM suddenly I had those features on my MTN sim card.
