Hi everyone, I’ve been out of the gaming scene for a while now, and the time has come for me to purchase a gaming machine for my son. I really am out of the loop with regards to the best bang for buck etc. so would really appreciate your advice.

Budget is 14k, he plays Fortnight mostly and sometimes Counter Strike. I need the whole system including monitor. What specs do you advise and from where. (Would prefer a pre built machine as I really don’t have time to assemble)

Thanks in advance!

I need a decent gaming keyboard, mouse. Buget is around 700 for both. Which one should I get ?

That's a really hard thing to recommend as it boils down to personal preference. Mouse alone could kill that budget.

Great mouse with a great sensor for a bargain price.

For me keyboards are not that important as long as they're not a total piece of schite, mouse is way more important.

Budget? Do you just need the box or the monitor, kyb/mouse etc? Do you have any existing parts that can be used towards the build and if yes list them.

R14k is gonna be a push but but I'll see what I can come up with tomorrow.

You should post a pic of your rig - looks great. :)

So this is my build after @copacetic donated the cpu, mb, ram and cpu cooler to me.
I added on the bare necessities to get the the system running and will continue adding components as I can afford them. First up will be a gpu. Must say, this was my first full PC build and I really enjoyed it.
For most of you, this may look like a simple machine, but I value it because I could never have afforded to do this from scratch on my own. Thanks @copacetic !
Also, because my first build posted:ROFL:

MB: Asus z97k 3.1
CPU: i5 4690K
RAM: 16Gb GSkill Ares 2133
PSU: Cooler Master GX750 (a bit overkill at this stage).
HDD: WD 500GB HDD 7200rpm
CASE: BitFenix Comrade

hi there, well I have an old school monitor still vga, have gaming mouse and keyboard. that's about it really...

i am looking at budget build. I don't need to play in 4k and that nonsense. maybe hd play one day when I get a monitor. but for now just the average games.
as mentioned

Hi folks...

Any idea who might have any DDR4 Quad kits in stock... needing 128GB and all seem to be special order with 8 weeks lead-time.

Eish.

Needing 8x16GB DDR4 modules for an X299 motherboard... based in Cape Town but not adverse to shipping.

Thanks in advance.

R1179 - GIGABYTE H310M S2H
R4049 - Intel Coffee Lake i5-8400
R1179 - Corsair ValueSelect CMV8GX4M1A2666C18, 8GB, DDR4-2666, CL18
R729 - Western Digital Blue WD10EZEX 1TB
R719 - Cooler Master MWE - 550w
R549 - DeepCool D-Shield V2
R4199 - XFX Radeon RX 590 FatBoy RX-590P8DFD6 8GB GDDR5 256-bit PCI-E 3.0 Desktop Graphics Card
R2079 - AOC E2470SWH 23.6" Full HD Monitor
R14682

Rebeltech can assemble the whole thing, you'll just have to pop in the GPU from Wootware.

You can get a cheapie mouse and keybord combo for <R500 for now.

Windows 10 Pro:

The only way to get this build close to R14k would be with an i3-8100 @ R2569 but I would not recommend that.

I think you're gonna have to get hold of someone like rectron, axiz, tarsus etc

So, looking to do a small build for a dev machine that will be running openSUSE KDE. Doesn't need to be a beast and not going to run VMs on it. Netbeans, sublime...maybe a postgre instance.

Anyway, I've got this (no mouse, keyboard or monitor):

Code:
Antec P6 791
MSI B450M Pro M2 1499
AMD Ryzen 3 1829
G.Skill F4 8GB 2666Mhz 1099
Mushkin 250GB SSD 749
Cooler Master 450W PSU 606

Missing something/feedback?

do I need such a GPU...?

or could I not find a 4gb card perhaps?

There's this https://www.wootware.co.za/gigabyte...t-pci-e-3-0-desktop-mining-graphics-card.html but I think they run on the hot side as the cooler is not that great.

I would not go for anything under a GTX1060 6GB or RX580 4GB for the games you listed. That RX590 is actually at very good price compared to the other options.

You're other option is to look on carbonite for used parts.
