Thanks, I think my build is back on track!that's a great deal...X399 motherboards are expensive though (more than the CPU at that price).
if Threadripper makes sense for your use case, go for it. Especially if there is going to be time saved rendering, compiling, scrubbing timelines etc. in your day-to-day work.

Rebeltech can assemble the whole thing, you'll just have to pop in the GPU from Wootware.
You can get a cheapie mouse and keybord combo for <R500 for now.

The only way to get this build close to R14k would be with an i3-8100 @ R2569 but I would not recommend that.
So, looking to do a small build for a dev machine that will be running openSUSE KDE. Doesn't need to be a beast and not going to run VMs on it. Netbeans, sublime...maybe a postgre instance.
Anyway, I've got this (no mouse, keyboard or monitor):
Code:Antec P6 791 MSI B450M Pro M2 1499 AMD Ryzen 3 1829 G.Skill F4 8GB 2666Mhz 1099 Mushkin 250GB SSD 749 Cooler Master 450W PSU 606 R6,573
Missing something/feedback?
Probably not but it is on the cheap side alreadyCould shave a few rands off the mobo and the case, do you really need a P6?
Hi guys
I am looking for an 8th Gen DDR4 mobo for my ATX case. I currently have a monitor that works with an HDMI cable.
Which is the best mobo to go for?
What will it be used for?
What CPU will you be using?
How many DIMM slots do yo need?
Budget?

I heard that 64-bit ram is off the hook!Thank you Ponder.
I want to look at at either the 8th Gen Coffeelake i5 or i7. I also already have 4x 64-bit (8GB) DDR4-2133 CL14 SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM) Ram sticks.
Are MSI motherboards any good?
I am looking at the MSI Z370 SLI Plus (https://www.loot.co.za/product/msi-z370-sli-plus-atx-motherboard-lga-1151/blzb-5179-g010) which seems will cater for my needs.

That will work.

Good luck with your build
MSI is good, but Asus is the BEST.Thanks. I never had an MSI Mobo, just hope it is good. Only used Gigabyte and Asus before.
Yep, can't wait to get it set up and test it out.

I don't need such negativity in my life.Asus was the best...

I usually just send it to Frontosa if ever I do have a problem. That's until you need to RMA it and have to deal with the hell that is Partserve which Asus appointed as their local service agents.
Google asus partserve

I am actually going for either MSI or Gigabyte with my next build in April.
