Return merchandise authorisation.

Replaced under warranty basically, card breaks person sends it in and doesn't want to wait say a month for the card to be replaced so they buy a new one and sell the also now new again one replaced under warranty.

Say what? That does not make sense at all. Unless you mean the original repaired one.

Did you see that thread on Reddit with people getting Freesync working on Nvidia cards using the onboard graphics from Ryzen? Some people also did it using cheap R7 cards. The trick was using the Nvidia card to render while setting the Radeon card as the output device - the rendered frames get copied to the Radeon card which then adds on the Freesync goodness.

It was pretty interesting though gimmicky - the game had to support selecting a graphics card in order for it to work and then there were issues in day to day use. Still pretty neat.

A lot of the time the local distributor say Rectron for example will just swap if for a new one and then they sort the broken one out with the manufacturer.

A couple of years ago one of the fans on my GPU started to break, the bearing more than likely just wore out, went to Rectron told them the fan is on it's last legs, the guy gave the fan one spin with his finger and you could clearly feel it, he booked it and went into the back and gave me a new sealed card.

I was in and out in less than 10 minutes, it obviously isn't always that easy but it was the same thing with a HDD I had to replace, also at Rectron, sent in an old Seagate they don't sell anymore and they replaced it with a sealed current model no questions asked, I didn't even have the slip for the drive because it came out of a CCTV system.

Refund, replacement or repair.

Please advice me on a UPS & Battery Backup and what to check for. It would be nice if I have at least 15 minutes under full load to switch off machine etc.. Depending on price of UPS, otherwise just a UPS that will handle full load. I sometimes push CPU and GPU with renderings.

750W PSU. GTX 1070 OC, Core i7 6700K

If a power outage catches you in the middle of something intense, you'll probably be pulling 350-400W (just the system, not your monitor). The 6700K is a 95W part (though it will exceed that by a tiny bit under stress) and the 1070 will use around about 200W-220W under high load - I don't know what else is in your computer. Go to a couple of power calculator sites, put your hardware in and work out what your consumption is. Add in stuff like the monitor, modem \ CPE, router etc. if you plan on running those as well.

15 minutes of full load is a long time by UPS standards - you're going to need a bigger battery :cool:

Ended up getting the following all for r8k
i5 4670k
G1 sniper z87 mobo
16gb Corsair DDR3 1600 ram
Wd blue 1tb HDD
Wd green 120gb ssd
24" 1920x1080 lg monitor
Win 10 pro 64 bit

Getting GTX 1060 6gb next month for r3k.

That's a nice rig. Might go a similar route for my next build.
 
Note to self: don't buy through pclink again.

I've been trying to find out if my order is ready which was placed a week ago for “next day collection“. I've been calling and emailing all week. They never call me back like they say they will. And they don't reply to my emails (and if they do reply the email response does not make sense [they said order is being posted]). I want my dad to pick up order today so I can build PC this weekend but their phones are offline and they not replying to my emails again (sent 2 already today). I see lots of people in this forum saying to avoid evetech but in my opinion their customer service is good. I would have my product a week ago off I ordered through evetech (albeit a little more expensive with this particular product).

Drive to their office, kak them out for their bad service and demand your money back.
 
Please could someone kind enough advise me on whether I should do a full pc upgrade or just a new gfx / ssd?

Current system:

i5 2500K 3.0
8 GB Ram
Ati 6970
OC Agility 3 SSD

I was thinking of maybe putting in a new GFX card, perhaps a GTX 1050i, and replace my agility 3 with a newer Samsung Evo 860?

It has been so long since I have done this I feel lost. Do you think it is worth upgrading those 2 components or do I need to do CPU, Mobo etc.

Edit: Sorry forgot to mention, I pretty much only play CS go and some other older steam games. So not essential that I be able to play latest titles.

Sorry, I just edited my post realising I had forgotten this important info.

Mostly only play CSGO, but noticed since the latest update my pc battles a bit with it.

Budget if I am going for a whole new pc I would say R10k budget.

Oh and I am playing on a 32" Samsung TV.

Have a look at https://carbonite.co.za/index.php?threads/few-lekker-combos.211099/ add a gtx 1060 6gb gpu and you'll be under buget. flog the existing cpu, mb, ram & gpu on carb to recoup some money.

OR I would spend a wee bit more and get this instead

R4000 - Intel 8th Gen Core i7-8700 Coffee Lake Processor
R1029 - GIGABYTE H310M S2H
R1319 - Corsair Vengeance LPX, 8GB, DDR4-2666, CL16, Black
R4599 - ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 AMP! Edition
R10 947 TOTAL

With a used gtx 1060 from carbonite you can get that to below R10k.

/subs....build is coming although it won't be a gaming rig

Any opinions wrt to i3 vs Ryzen 3 (2200G I believe).
 
The pc I just built is now stuck in a boot loop. I have tried reseating everything. Giving up and taking it in for an expert to check it. I suspect one of the parts is broken.
