Why not the vacuum cleaner? That is what I use, you are just moving the dust around with the compressed air.

Would this make a good gaming rig? I have a 1060 with a case, PSU and screen I just need a mobo, gpu with memory. I'm keen on this.

You have a gtx 1060 GPU?

If YES then you'll have a decent 1080p gaming pc.

What PSU (make&model) do you have?
Also which case?

So you need MB, CPU & RAM. Budget again?

Hi Ponder. I'm not sure what make or model of PSU. It is a 550W. I can get another one if needed.

I do yes. My budget is around 5-6k.

The case I have is a deepcool Tesseract ATX so plenty of room. Actually the case is just sitting empty in my room waiting for some new guts ;)

I have been putting off building a new machine for some time now however now is a good time and I'm able to put aside funds for this

That's perfect thanks Ponder. Tempted to order it this afternoon. If I need to go with another PSU is there anything you can suggest? I might get one just to be safe as my one has already seen quite a lot of uptime and been subject to a whole battery of loadshedding.

Edit: That CPU

Hi All

Im not into PC building as I was 10 years ago, but Im keen on upgrading.

Currently have a 3770k i7 (from 2012 ish) a smallish Acer board and 16GB DDR3 ram.

IM holding onto my 650w ANTEC PSU, 1080 GTX and all my drives.

Im looking at this deal:

https://www.evetech.co.za/intel-9th...-b360m-mortar-upgrade-kit/best-deal/5475.aspx

From research, the CPU is a reasonable bump in performance. I used to do alot of 3d rendering, but almost do zero these days, so mainly gaming, photoshop, lightroom etc....

I'm quite partial to Super Flower but any higher up model from a good brand will do.

That 500W one is a new product so I have not seen any reviews on it yet but their products usually get good reviews and you get a 5yr warranty. Just for the record your build as specced has an absolute max power draw of ~250W which it will never reach so 500W is ample.

Yeah that R5 2600 6C/12T is really good value for money compared to the i5 8400 6C/6T which costs R550 more and you can overclock the 2600 ;)

PS Just confirm you can run that RAM at the higher speeds on that MB.

Interesting. What is interesting, i had the worst service from takealot on returns, on multiple occasions, to such a degree that the head of Client Relations contacted me. Raru skrewed me over once on a graphics card issue, part of the reason why i recently upgraded to a 1080 GTX from my raru card...

For pc stuff people here generally support the likes of rebeltech & wootware as their reputation & service is impeccable.
