You'll notice that most reputable tech guys will actually tell you to steer away from all the overpriced fluff that has "gaming" stamped on it.
I'm aware of that but here's the problem: You can't stay clear of that crap even if you wanted to. I literally just did a filter on the Wootware site for both Coffe Lake and AM4 motherboards. Not a single one of those boards prioritizes function over form and every single one of them are overpriced as a result of it.
But alas, I'll stop my rant here, except for saying:
In 2019 you can pay R11K for a motherboard that can be specced out to move multiple gigabytes/s of data between NVME's or whatever, yet you're still getting a Gigabit LAN adapter on the f**ing thing that's been a standard since '99. Yet, in the next few month you're going to see endless discussions in the "tech" community about the pros and cons of PCIE 4.0.
