The PC Build Thread

Long time since I built a box, but my Laptop is getting old, and I should have built a new box long ago.

My Son gave me a Radeon RX 560 Graphics card, so that I do not need. Not awesome, but decent I gather.

Need CPU / Motherboard / RAM/ Power Supply suggestions.

I play a lot of GW2, cannot play CS:GO or The Witcher on my laptop :(

I also do audio recording and editing, browse e-mail, the usual stuff.

Want something that can handle this fairly well, with as good a performance as I can get -obviously. :)

Budget of around R5000.00 for motherboard and CPU, but can go a bit higher, but if I can save here, would be nice tho.

No, RAM and PSU, need not be included, in R5000.00, but would be awesome if they where. :)

Okay, those prices look good, indeed.

Evetech Bundle

This looks decent as well, just that they do not give an indication, whether this is for the 1600AE or 1600AF CPU. Suspect that it is the 1600AE version.

Just waiting for my Takealot refund, then will place my order, with Wootware.

Thank you for you reply - appreciated. :)

I wouldn't take the Evetech bundle the motherboard on there is really, really basic. They also only giving 2666mhz RAM hmmm I'd pay more and take what you can from Wootware. I got that last week Monday and the 1600AF is soooo close to my 2600 it's scary. Also the Ripjaw memory is quite solid.

Appreciated, thanks.

Just out of curiosity, what sort of performance hit would one take, with the Evetech, kit, slower RAM, basic motherboard, and suspected 1600 AE CPU, compared to what Ponder linked for me.

On the CPU alone it would be roughly 10% difference maybe more, memory roughly 5%. But it's also a horrible motherboard, basic as basic can be no overclocking ability at all.
Rather pay the R800 more and get the one Ponder linked.

That is a considerable performance hit. Ouch!!

Not taking into account the Evetech ones motherboard is bottom of the barrel. The 1600AF is really a good deal.
When you do put it all together, go into your bios and set the memory to XMP profile 1 this will set the memory to 3200mhz.

Computer mania, says they are shipping orders also.

Ordered a power supply for my plex server, lets see how quick it comes. Did not want to pay too much for my plex server and wootware only has superflower in stock.
