Black Friday... no specials, infact prices went up. Cpu, motherboard, ram and psu. Took screenshots of some items and wrote the other prices down and from which supplier. I'm comparing today and noticed most prices went up. Lucky I did my homework.

Pretty sure that used to be under a thousand bucks awhile back. It was my de facto recommend for reasonable builds (a 100W CPU + 250W GPU).

It's still good at R1200 but the "saving" is misleading.
Must've been aaaawhile back

My brother is looking to upgrade pc. Can spend up to 17k maybe stretch to 20k. Hes on a 6700k and 3080ti. mainly play racing games like assetto corsa on triple 1080p 144hz monitors. So decent setup etc. what woiuld you guys recommend going Intel or AMD. Hes sorted on the following. SSD (NVME), storage, Case (Phanteks P400a).

What he needs is about 8 usb type A ports as minimum. Can someone suggest something doesn't have to be from wootware. Here is what I have in mind. https://www.wootware.co.za/w/builder/?selections=41059,40508,40648

Then get the cooler at titan ice near me. We would like to stick to air cooler for now https://www.titan-ice.co.za/hardware/air-cooling/deepcool-ag620-cpu-cooler-black/

I ended up buying the Alienware from Wootware. The monitor will come 5th December and the PC 9 th December. Seems like there really busy with orders. Will order another monitor in March(4k monitor)
The monitor arrive today but not working :(. A bit disappointing and no contact number. Guess I have to wait for wootware to response.

So I bought the asis rog strix rx6600xt oc for 6k on special last week Saturday. Black Friday it went up 2k. Glad I bought it before the price shot up. For 2 to 2.5k what would be the best motherboard to go for. Got the ryzen 5600 for just under3k. Everything is almost sorted. Motherboard most guys seem to be out of stock or the price keeps changing as I'm researching ...Einar

You can buy used 6700xt or even rx 6800 that price for 6k

Currently looking at the gigabyte b550 ds3h for 2.6k. Was hoping I don't go over 2.5k. But it is what it is. Or I can go cheap with the asus prime b550 k at 1.6k.

I researched gpus for few weeks. Guess I didn't research properly checked all Carbonite, takealot, wootware, evetech, pc international etc. Appreciate the reply. Nb; I was looking at new. Not used.

There's this for cheap, no idea what you need in a MB though.

Thanks, Not sure exactly what is needed in MB, but decent enough to handle 1440p gaming. I think 1 m.2 should be fine, bonus if 2. Usb c would be a bonus as well. I can always look at upgrading at a later stage should the need arise.

I'd go for something like this.

You'll want better cooling on the CPU and if you're buying a new platform for a while now, you may as well go the DDR5 route in my opinion.

EDIT: Damn, forgot the monitor. Let me change it quick. Basically the same as yours, just changed to the 13700KF and added an AIO and a few tweaks for budget.

My Build arrived early! Its just looks so beautiful. Performance is unmatched, don't know why never upgrade sooner.

The Cooler is huge but fits perfectly in casing. Wootware really done a good job with build. Only thing from list is the drives, went 512GB SSD and inserted existing corsair 1TB in. All running smooth.

Now I wait for Monitor replacement to arrive. The alienware arrive with issue.
