How does that amplify any tag...They were part of our best ever test team(the pinnacle for any cricketer).
Because its the same players than failed spectacularly in WC's. Choking is not because you lose, but because members of the best ever team failed from highly winnable situations, making highly questionable decisions.

But doesn't mean boucher isn't the right man for the job. He is the most successful current franchise coach in SA.
He isn't the right man, unless you want to improve on their choking skills. And he's certainly not the best. He has a chip on his shoulder. He was offered to do the level 4 course sometime back but refused. His success with the Titans for context, is with all those Proteas in that squad. Just to emphasize that point...Enoch's team won MSL19, while Boucher's team were 2nd last.

Enoch's record is wayyy better, and with success with many different teams, in 2 countries. Tried and tested vs one hit wonder.

You are only judging them on one tournament and totally ignoring all their success in the main format of cricket...Yes they choked at wc but they didn't on many occasions in many highly pressurized test matches.

As for level 4 coaching I will just leave his response to it, which summons up why he didn't do it perfectly.

“People need to get their facts straight‚” he said. “You don’t have to have a level three in order to be a coach and that hasn’t been made a rule by Cricket SA. When I was asked to do a level three‚ they also asked me to lecture the coaches who were doing the level three.

“I said to them: ‘If that’s the case‚ I don’t mind doing a level three but if you want me to lecture‚ then that’s in my personal capacity‚ I’m giving information that I’ve acquired over the years and I feel there’s a fee attached to that. They said there’s no fee and when I went to my employers‚ they said I don’t have to.”

“There are a lot of coaches around the world who don’t have a level three. New Zealander Stephen Fleming is an example and he’s very successful.”

Frankly, these people who are fixated on the level of qualification are ill-informed. Level four is ten days of training. You know what might make a better cricketing mind than ten days of training? 100+ international test matches.

The qualification is only one of many factors.

I like Boucher. Well respected, always had grit and will pull these boys into line.

SA test stats for the year:

For all the criticism of markram he still ends up third on the averages and only one besides faf and qdk with more then 1 50+ score. He has had a poor year but in context its not the train smash some would have one believe.

Well, the context is that the rest of the team has performed poorly too...

Mbalula accuses Cricket SA of taking transformation back by employing Protea legends

The minister was not impressed to discover that former Proteas Mark Boucher, Jacques Kallis, and Charl Langeveldt are employed by the team.

Ahead of the Proteas facing off against England in a New Year’s Test at Newlands on Friday, Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula expressed the view that the employment of former Proteas by the team was a setback for racial transformation.
“What are you guys doing to transformation? You [are] taking us back,” he tweeted in response to the official Twitter account for Cricket South Africa (CSA) posting picture on Thursday morning ahead of the test, which included a picture of former Proteas Mark Boucher, Jacques Kallis, and Charl Langeveldt alongside a caption saying that those who see the pic would be forgiven for thinking it was a “throw-back Thursday” post, in reference to a trend which sees Twitter users posting pictures from the past.
All three former Proteas are currently employed by the team. Boucher is the new Proteas coach, Langeveldt – who has been a longtime Proteas coach in various capacities – is a bowling coach and Kallis is a batting consultant.
Mbalula’s tweets divided Twitter, with some saying he was right that the picture shows that SA cricket is an “old boys’ club” and others welcoming the inclusion of the three former Protea’s in the team’s staff.

Agree with him. I mean, why would you employ the greatest all rounder of the modern era anyway? What was csa thinking?!
