I always feel angry when most people say "No" to the "Funny Money" vendors at the traffic lights. Obviously there are some intrusive ones, but the one I know at the traffic lights is very cheerful ...I can't believe some people are so selfish as to never give these people R2-R5 every two weeks (that's how often it comes out I think) yet they drive very flashy cars. Of course it's one right to refuse it if one doesn't like the Funny Money pamphlet, but the amount of people just saying "NO" is shocking.

I tell them to ****off, they irritate the living **** out of me.....bloody hell at every robot they come knocking on my door, every time I part my car the idiot greets me like I know him for ages. I even ask them nowadays "do I know you?" if he says no then I ask them "then why the hell do you greet me".

Being selfish, self-absorbed, self-interested and generally greedy are very useful characteristics if you want to be rich.

I had a multi-millionaire boss who use to tell me with relish how he would scheme and cheat to save the pennies. He had worked out how to delay paying rates for months on his Hermanus mansion just to save the interest. He would pack his dirty laundry when he went on a business trip and then have the hotel do his washing. He would get his PA to find out if another staff member was going to the airport so he didn't have to use his own car or pay the airport parking and he never gave lifts in his Merc. He shared these and many more pearls of wisdom without realizing what a sad excuse for a human he had become.

I know a wealthy lawyer who when he is invited to a braai or party, will ask the host to use the phone for an urgent call he has just remembered about. Then he just calls up his friends for a chat rather than use his own phone at home.

Another guy won't talk to his friends on the phone because it takes too long and his time is too valuable. He gently encourages everyone to SMS him rather.

A friend's sister-in-law is a fancy lawyer and her time is too precious to do any shopping or errands at all. She has employed a 20-something slave-girl for R3500 a month to do all the babysitting, shopping and errands. She has clothes brought to her office so she doesn't have to waste time in a shop with the rest of us peasants.

With attitudes like these you are halfway to making your first million. You won't be happy but you will be rich.

Day before he told us to bring and braai.
There are a whole 5 members in his team.
Each dept. gets a budget for christmas lunch.

Maybe this has nothing to do with the original post but I would just like to point out something that has been pestering me for awhile now.

I notice people saying that children in schools are doing bad because they are not committed enough, they are lazy, they are too complacent etc and this seems to be coming from some of the people that are lucky enough to be educated, have a degree etc etc.

What bothers me though is how some people can blatantly point fingers at children not doing well in school.

Here is a Primary School down my road and a friend of mine is a teacher in one of the Grade R classes. We usually speak about the state of the school and how the students are doing and she says they are doing extremely poor. Now you must remember these are children that are under the age of 7 years. If you had to see these students you would be shocked because they wear broken school clothes, no school shoes, shoprite bags as school bags. It is very sad. Now this is what saddens me the most, these children go home on a Friday and come to school the Monday hardly eaten anything on the weekend. Maybe a slice of bread a day, and it goes like that the whole week, their whole school life. these children are so hungry that they cannot even concentrate in school. So how can you blame a child doing bad at school when they are hungry and cannot even concentrate in school?

So some of the rich and selfish should stop pointing fingers at those who cannot accomplish what they can, there are circumstances involving more than what they could understand. if you are lucky enough to get out of that situation than that is good for you but you must remember that not all people can achieve what you can in life.

So i try to help where I can but if some of the "rich" people had to see these children they would not even bother to help them. I have seen this myself. It happens too much and it is disgusting behaviour.

Try to help those around you, you might not be able to help everyone but the little you do for one person can change alot in their lives.

You have a very valid point. Their is a very direct link between nutrition and learning progress/behaviour in children. If you don't get good nutrition you are kinda fooked.

We pay taxes, what does the government do with those taxes? As far as I'm concerned the government would love ignorant constituents.

Over 35% of my salary goes towards taxes. Most of that goes towards handouts to the poor and governmental corruption (Not much is finding its way to my local library or parks and playgrounds that much I know.)

exactly, you pay taxes to help the poor, if the government aint helping them then why do they continue to vote for them? By all means they deserve to be stuck in poverty then

one thing that gets my blood boiling is these ladies with their babies (assuming the baby actually belongs to her) sitting at intersections, begging. that is child neglect. she is willingly placing that poor baby in a very hazardous environment to make money off the child. people like that shouldn't be allowed to breed. i scold them everytime i see one of them. if you feel you make more money begging than applying for a grant (which is quite easy to get), then beg, but dont exploit babies doing it.

Exactly. Those that get so upset abouy the carguards too. What's wrong with people to feel so entitled to their privelege while others suffer ? I know many of us worked hard for what we had but a lot of us really don't deserve to be living the lifestyle we are while others sell their dignity for a few rands.

Talk to the guys who work as car guards and get to know them. You're change is helping them get on with a honest living and support their families. Those tannies and ooms I see telling them to F-off make me want to spit on them. No one wants to kiss your bum for a few rands, they simply need to. You promote bad relations between the people of this country with your callous and frankly rude behaviour. Kee your precious R5's if it means so much to you , but don't be rude to anyone for the sake of it. That's losing your own dignity and theirs in a very real way.

Yeah , me too. The worst thing of all is the government paying women who have illegitimate children. Don't reward irresponsble behaviour ! By all means give money to people who don't have children young. And if you're married and have a baby no ways you getting money. You responsible enough to get married then you better learn some child planning.

has it ever come to your mind that just maybe you should think a little less about yourselves, and more about other ppl around you? maybe even live less richly (omg!!!!), and try to lift the ppl that has less than you up. Adults are not the future of the country, but the kids are ... and if 90% of those kids are poor, suffer from malnutrition, whose problem will it be in the future???? Not yours, but your children's problem.
