The Rugby Thread - Part Deux

I think Rassie is also trying to build a squad with players that can 'multi task' more so than individual single-purpose players. Guys like Kwagga, PSTD, Williams, SFM, Esterhuizen etc are all excellent players that can play multiple roles within the team. A lot has been said about the Boks squad depth and Rassie seemingly wants to have a distinct advantage with a very broad team selection that are really tough for others to predict.
100% but in respects to selecting Cobus ahead of Faf, some explanation was required. Age wasn't a consideration (35 v 34) and if anything Faf is probably the more versatile 9, having played a bit at 10. Neither 9 is considered versatile though...

Interesting point raised about France player's arm obstructing wrap.

And in what world is it acceptable that AR/TMO influence the match referee to this degree to do what they say, but they not in charge, the match referee is.

Ridiculous amount of attempted influence by AR's, TMO etc on outcomes overall this match, which really should be a concern for ALL fans about precedent set, implications for the future. If this is the new norm, there is a lot to be worried about.

Ramos himself has chimed in, like the Ireland/NZ game, saying not agree with the call.
Even after the game, when asked about the red card by journalists, Ramos said "Of course it was dangerous, but I was very low already, it could have been a yellow".

Jirr that is the most depressing YT channel. It makes SA rugby and their supporters look like fools.
I wish everyone would stop giving them clicks so it can die a quick death

Personally I believe the whole incident was an accident and not intentional.
Bloody snowflakes.

Well, replay analysis like the video I linked, show how Lood's arm got blocked from wrapping by Ramos, unintentional by Ramos for sure, but definitely relevant.

Gardner should've backed himself and gone to the bunker like he wanted to. That ARs etc are influencing decision this forcibly is a real concern.

My take - it probably was a red card level as Lood was a bit sloppy/reckless. What should have been in his favour is that Ramos was quite low in the tackle. Not worthy of a full red card.

The replay analysis rather imply he wasn't sloppy but was a rugby incident. Ramos' own arm blocks Lood from wrapping and when Lood went into tackle motion, Ramos was still very much upright.

Wales have now fallen to #12 on the world rankings...below Georgia.

What a fall from grace for this once great rugby nation.

We should give them the same kind of hiding as we gave Japan.

Also a great game between Scotland and NZ. NZ squeaking home by 8 points but the the Scots had their chances to win.
Hats off to Italy downing Oz.
Argies pummeled Wales.
NZ vs Eng should be great. I can imagine England singing swing low for the first 75 minutes as England are leading. And then the inevitable loss that follows.

4 match ban for Lood. What a farce!
More or less as expected... man, I hate the persecution complex many Saffa fans and supporters suffer from but tell me it isn't justified without telling me it isn't justified...

Hmmm, a 4 match ban implies 20min red should've been the call during the match imho.... If it was as malicious as full red implied, should've been a far longer ban.

Was always going to be cited, the question was how much any mitigation could influence how long it would be.

That some of our biggest critics in NZ are even defending the Boks on this one is telling though. And not to mention, even Ramos noted in an interview he doesn't consider the red fair, thought could've been yellow, mentioning mitigation concerns himself, such as dropping to his knees.
