The Rugby Thread - Part Deux

Very interesting. Great centre combination albeit an untested combination. Italy have some seasoned campaigners at centre. It's quite an inexperienced bok backline but an exciting one. Looks like Rassie has one eye on the Ireland test. Obviously. New combinations in the loose and at lock and in the front row. If you're an Italian supporter you'd be thanking Rassie for this line up. Even the bench is packed with intrigue.

Ethan and Damian can switch for an up an under game. Still a very dominant forward pack.

No pressure Polly lol

Wholesale changes but still a strong team. Some interesting selections.
High risk selections. Rassie putting a lot of faith in the extended squad.

I wonder if he's too focussed on the Ireland fixture?

Any other coach and I would say most probably but we know Rassie picks his team's weeks, if not months in advance.

Let's hope it doesn't backfire.

The Italians might be buoyed on by his starting XV. They might even see it as disrespectful.

I have no doubt it's a Bok side good enough to win. But not by many. A lot of untried and untested combinations. A lot of players with 20 caps or less. A very green front row... Hmmmmm... This team makes me a little nervous, I won't lie.

Yes, I think our game is going to be tight. Italy has improved immensely since the end of last year. Our team has a green look about them, pardon the pun, and a few untried combinations.
But I believe we can pull away from them in the last quarter to win by 12+
Also looking forward to the Eng./NZ game.

Predictions?

I'm a teeny weeny weeny bit nervous of our Italy game. Unless we click, might be a toughy.
NZ should pip England but its going to be a tight low scoring game methinks.
France to lose to Fiji? Maybe 😅
Ireland and Oz, could go either way tbh.

We're in for a treat!!!

5 out of 8 games should end within a score...

England v NZ the fixture of the day. Too tight to call. Could even be a draw.

Scotland v Argentina, can the Scots pick themselves up after last week's massive effort and disappointment? And will the Argentina we've grown to love and respect pitch up?

France should have too much class, conditioning and stamina for Fiji but it promises to be a high paced, free flowing game of rugby.

Ireland v Australia, Joe knows irish rugby inside and out but the Aussies are in free fall. Ireland to edge it.

Boks v Italy, we could be behind after 60 minutes with the bench bringing us home in the last 20. How well Ethan and Moodie combine at centre could be the difference. High risk XV Rassie has selected here. Also will Italy be able to pick themselves up again for a massive fixture?

Wales v Japan, Tandy's 2nd fixture in charge. Signs of a resurgence? Too early to say but at home the Welsh should have the power and poise to win a tight game. Morgan out with injury is a big blow though.

Anyway, enjoy ladies and gentlemen. Today is a day to braai and lie.
