The Rugby Thread - Part Deux

“ Oom Ref “ what am supposed to do when he ducks and runs into shoulder head first “

By contrast, the Welsh player who tried to kick the Argentinian in the head, gets off scott free, yet, the incident is a clear example of what should be a straight red card and face significant sanction.

Punishment cannot be measured by result, but by intent as the law goes.... They applied it with Lood, Ramos didn't even need an HIA, but full weight of the Law handed down on him, but nothing but a yellow, and no citing for trying to kick a player in the head?!

Some seriously poor, inconsistent officiating going on across the board and that is what is killing rugby's image, not the colourblind and other such distraction nonsense. Bill has proven a serious blight on the game during his time in charge, which going to take years to recover from, if at all at this rate.

Edit: Seen video replays of the match referee for the Welsh/Argentina game... His explanation for only giving a yellow even goes AGAINST the laws on what he is suppose to do. Its about intent, action, not result, not outcome, yet he specifically cites that because the player missed, he only giving a yellow... wtf....!

Exactly this. Why is nobody making a serious noise about this. This call was undeniably the wrong call, entirely against the actual laws of the game.

It ends the debate about referee standards completely imho. Proves they are poorly trained, inept and do not know even the basic rules, let alone the so called complicated ones. People cannot blame a 'difficult/complex to understand law book open for interpretation for this one at all, sry.

The lack of citing afterwards, any attempt by WR to rectify the wrong call should have ALL fans making a noise. The reality is blatant now, no defending it. There is no room for 'interpretation' nonsense here, this call was simply wrong, against the laws, no debate.

Jirr that is the most depressing YT channel. It makes SA rugby and their supporters look like fools.
I wish everyone would stop giving them clicks so it can die a quick death
Sure, but he has a valid point in his latest video, intentional foul play like this, in this context can never be mitigated.

Further context, Lood gets suspended for UNINTENTIONAL foul play, however Ben Thomas doesn't.

So no, it makes World Rugby look like fools if you're truly unbiased and fair.

No. Wrong calls have been in sport forever and will be forever.
Everything about this channel are just SA are the victims, everyone is against us.
In fact I feel the refs are very lenient towards us the last few years and we get more than our share of 50/50 calls.
Channels like this not only makes us look like a bunch of cry babies, but also might turn the refs against us.
Will bet anything its a Blue Bulls supporter running that channel.

A wrong call due to misperception of what occurred VS making a call that goes against the game laws suppose to be enforcing are ENTIRELY different things.

Also, the original video proven correct, as citing commissioners in fact took mitigating factors into account, only banned for 4 weeks proves should've gone to bunker and been a 20minute red at worst on field, Gardner should've stood his ground.

I understand what you are saying, however the citing committee is then doing a píśś poor job of making decisions, how can you suspend Lood for UNINTENTIONAL foul play, but you don't suspend Ben Thomas for INTENTIONAL foul play, that's what his trying to convey.

That's exactly why there's a citing committee for after the matches, to review incidents such as Lood and Ben Thomas incidents, and then make a decision on further findings, which the Referee or TMO missed or overlooked in the live match.

You can clearly not overlook Ben Thomas incident, that's truly ridiculous that he got away with that, that's basically the same as throwing a punch to an opponent.

It might be, but he kak en kerm every week about every small thing on that channel. And not about the mistakes the ref make that favours the Boks.
Its the supporters that sit every game and complain about the ref that watch that channel. Toxic lot.

He actually does point out the Refs mistakes against the Springboks as well or which favours the Springboks.

Those supporters are either drunk or still believe in 1995 rules etc, just ignore those fools, but sometimes BS needs to be called out unfortunately.

I have checked the replays again a few times. Unlike that other YT channel want to tell you, Lood drops his shoulder for the tackle. Especially from the other angle you can see that he never intended to wrap that arm, its a myth that the other player stops his arm.
He still did not intend to hit the player in the head, that was accidental, but he sure dropped that shoulder.

Squidge Rugby is not kind to France here.

Never been overly interested in his video analysis tbh. Less so now without the actual video component of it. Not to say he isn't quite brilliant but I find it over complicates an already complicated sport.

As an end viewer there is already so much to absorb, without delving into the finer intricacies, tactics and nuances.

Just me...

Still think it's bloody daft that the powers that be don't give him full video access to analyse these games, higher ups in rugby bureacracy are absolute bell ends.
