I'm referring specifically to the domestic franchises, the quality and quantity of personnel at their disposal and the net effect it has on their high profile players.Player drain? It's not like they can't pick the players who are playing abroad? There was a video of them discussing this, and how players going overseas is of benefit to them, as it means the scope gets made wider, with our players for potential Bok selection are developed by more teams than just our local franchises, giving them a larger pool, not smaller, on our limit Rugby budget being a small nation.
Every SA franchise loses players to foreign leagues, every season.
The composition of every local franchise is 99% South African born and based players. They can't afford and don't contract foreign players. This effects the quality of the squad. If you can't source a 4th choice prop locally, unlucky. You get what you get.
If the quality of your squad isn't up to scratch you not going to be playing that 4th choice prop as often as you'd like so Kitshoff finds himself playing 80% of the season.
And therein lies the rub...
I hope I've explained it in a way that makes sense...
