Hill-Lewis has endorsed Steenhuisen for another term as leader of the DA, which is expected to hold its party elections in April. He said a coalition with the governing party must only happen to thwart any possible ANC-EFF relationship.

The issue with any ANC coalition is the parallel structure to the party.

I'm not sure they even know how they would give up deputy presidency or ministerial positions given how tightly coupled these positions are to their NEC...

They have done this thing before with the NP and IFP, it looks like this time they would be spoilt for choice since everyone wants to keep the other one out, so the bargaining won't be too hard.

I still think they won't even need the DA or the EFF, they will get their majority from the small parties.

Yeah but in those cases they were bargaining from a position of majority, so they handed out positions that they were comfortable with. Negotiating without a majority is difficult, like the circus playing out in local government. The only losers are us...
