Also, it is a byelection which usually benefits opposition parties due to lower turnout. In this case, the opposition is the ANC.

Yeah, the margin may be lower, but still an easy DA win. Steenhuisen basically already won the by-election when he spoke about the new AA/EE targets, which is bad news for Indians and crucially ferments the idea that the ANC is an African nationalist party.

I'd think you right in that DA probably do win but it may not be an "easy DA win". There will be low turnout (which benefits ANC here) and people dont vote as much on national issues when it comes to a Ward election.

We dont know what Pillay has been saying about ANC either. In this case, Pillay probably has more influence over the voters than Steenhuisen.

Pretty sure that the DA and ANC will hold 2 wards each, not sure about the Lesedi by-election as we have experienced huge swings in the past to the FF in DA/FF wards, where switching to the FF from the DA will not allow the ANC to win the ward through the middle.

The Ekurhuleni one is close to me. They have a shít load of power issues. And apparently the people are really tired of the DA councilor just not communicating properly. But these random by-elections are wierd for turnout. I expect ff+ to go +10%

Curious to see what process the DA uses to select councillours. Seen some who can barely string a coherent sentence together so not sure the process is really that much different from the ANC.

It's refreshingly honest though, considering their supporters on here were still perpetuating the lie that the tender was awarded by the ANC.

Brink is like the DA's New Dawn in Tshwane, he isn't necessarilu going to fix things but he can at least lay some new foundation for being accountable and taking responsibility.

When last have you ever heard anyone from the DA admitting to the Tshwane failures? When they owed Eskom it was the ANC dealing with them for being a DA governed metro, when they got the adverse audit it was still the ANC's fault, when the electricity pylons fell it was ANC sabotage, it is always someone else's fault never the DA's.

It's not something to be admired but it's certainly something I can work with.

Of all the responsibilities that a government has towards its citizens, the most fundamental are those listed upfront in our Constitution, in the Bill of Rights. And arguably the most important of these is the right to sufficient and clean water.

What we see here in Siyanqoba is a government that has failed in its most basic duty towards its citizens. In a province notorious for water delivery issues, the municipality of Emalahleni is the very worst, with the highest rate of water outages in Mpumalanga and among the highest water losses in the country through leaks. And a place like Siyanqoba bears the brunt of this failure.

DA leader John Steenhuisen has accused the ANC of playing the race card to divide South Africans.

ANC: have been playing the fear of Apartheid for elections the past 20 years they know they are useless and playing on people emotions now, even that is failing now. They only have themselves and the voters to blame for the situation of the country.
