The DA is getting loads of money, I am sure if he asked that person who paid for him to go to Ukraine they could work something out for him, but first there has to be a will from him, is he prepared to face the masses and account for the DA failures in the metro?

The DA tries to make the best use of its money...

And yes as much as John going there would be some sort of show of "solidarity", his visit will change absolutely nothing so at the end of the day what is his presence going to actually achieve?

TB is wrong about bodyguards. That's not why he isn't going. He won't go because he knows he'll be chased off. Ramaphosa would have stayed away (same as he does with Marikana) if he got told the mood on the ground is that he will be chased off. Can't blame moonshot here, the mayor went and the people wouldn't hear him and he is in government responsible for the area and seems to be dealing with the problems.

Oh I know he isn't going because he'd be chased away, I'm just taking the piss out of calling John a coward aspect of things.
 
I think GHL could make a good president, he seems young and energetic unlike some of these brainless lazy old farts wondering around.

Exactly, the masses then were more hostile that the ones in Hammanskraal yet he was brave enough, he was also brave enough to travel to a war torn Ukraine without security, what happened between then and now? What's up with the cold feet?

Maybe, and just maybe, he's leaving the relevant people to actually deal with the issue and try resolve it and not waste time with pointless visits?

He has no experience governing the poor, I give the boy 3 months and he would be hiding like Steenhuisen, having nothing to say to the poor masses dying from cholera under his watch.

To be vaguely serious, and to pause the piss-taking aspects,

I think GHL shows promise in my opinion, but he has to get more experience and time under his belt as Mayor before moving further up the chain.

I'm hardly going to judge a person based on one incident as well. Everyone loses their cool and acts out of character once in a while. It's perfectly human. It's weird that people expect perfect levels of behaviour from politicians and yet do not demand it from themselves or their friends.

Eh... We should look at it as an isolated event and not compare it to what others are doing.

He's a representative of the voters, he is supposed to be and do better. Everyone does lose their cool but not everyone takes it as far as he did. He could have ranted and be angry privately, why did he have to make it a public attack on LIFT?
