Maybe I'm not high IQ enough... But going by how the article describes MTC, what does an IT entity have to do with transport?
No idea, it was still lost under economic development.

My thinking is that they are missing a committee to put it in. I was not even aware that such a company exists.

The best solution is to make it a fully fledged company if it's viable, with it's own management like Pikitup, City Power etc, but I don't think it is at that level, plus the telecommunications industry is saturated as it is.

I always find it amazing how the corrupt and incompetent folk manage to get so many things done so quickly in order to steal, but the DA coalitions seem to struggle to get things done the right away (e.g. getting a real Municipal Manager, getting proper boards and heads into municipal SOE's). Maybe it's just a lot easier to be corrupt than not

It is a whole shyte ton easier to not do things the right way and it's a big reason why we're in the state we're in.

Probably because with the DA it's always their way or the highway. Talking about municipal managers, the DA could not agree with it's own coalition partners in JHB because they wanted Johann Mettler to be appointed, by hook or crook, when they finally failed to appoint him in Joburg, they dragged him all the way to Tshwane where he is now the municipal manager.

Also remember that he is the same guy who was the DA's Nelson Mandela Bay Municipal manager, have you ever asked yourself why do they seem to think it's only Johann Mettler who is capable of being a municipal manager? What hold does he have over them that they have to go to these lengths for him?

Yes, I believe he is one of the very few non-corrupt municipal managers who has had considerable experience running a large metro.

Who just happen to always be unemployed waiting for the DA's call to come and be a municipal manager? Surely someone that experienced should be snapped up the minute the DA turns their head?

He was their municipal manager in NMB in 2016, they went on to lose that metro and he was subsequently removed by the new administration, in 2021 when the DA gets Joburg his seat is already reserved and he is again available, despite all his experience?

He fails to get the Joburg gig and the DA again arranges for him to go to Tshwane where he is finally appointed.

He must really love working in the public sector and specifically working for the DA.

It's really not that difficult. He's non-corrupt. No ANC run metro would want to touch him with a barge pole. That's why they don't want him.

Lol, he might have the DA's nudes but it does not mean he has a problem with the ANC or the ANC has a problem with him, he has worked for the ANC before by the way.

Okes claim to have a problem with Cadre Deployment but always look for reason to justify it when the DA does it.

I don't find it surprising. Some people like being doing a specific type of job which keeps them in their comfort zone. If they think they are good at it, why not ? Maybe he loves being in the public sector in that specific position. At a municipal manager level, there must be some ecosystem which is identical no matter where in the country you go to.

I see Johan Mettler had some allegations against him by UDM. I wonder what happened to those allegations.

Yes, back to the point about the DA struggling to do things in the municipal coalitions, they struggle because when they have to do something, like employ one of their cadres, or force through some corrupt tender, they simply don't care what their coalition partners think, case in point the Mettler situation and another example being the Rooiwal power deal the then Tshwane Mayor tried to force through, despite the misgivings from their coalition partners which ultimately led to his resignation.

If maybe they cared a little more about listening to their coalition partners they would not struggle this much. They believe that the coalition partners should unite behind them and support any decision they take, that's why the Moonshot is doomed.

People who manage to get things done are corrupt. And if you don't manage, you are competent & honest. Right ?

From the book on the July 2021 riots in Durban, it looks like even Zille was taken aback by uBaba's charm. She also said uBaba reached out to her when she was going through a hard time.

‘If I had his phone number now (and if I knew he has a phone in his cell), I would reach out to him too, and wish him strength and courage, as he did to me at my lowest ebb. Not because I think he has been wronged. He was accorded due process of law and must serve his sentence. But because I know Zuma, the person, not the politician,’ Zille wrote in a controversial column
