What happens to the mayor and the MMCs when a municipality is placed under administration?
Source: https://www.georgeherald.com/News/A...-mean-to-be-under-administration-201805160512This will mean that there will be no executive positions and that an administrator will be appointed to manage and oversee the day-to-day running of the municipality.
They're not thrown out. Their exec powers are taken away, but remain on the payroll afaik.Source: https://www.georgeherald.com/News/A...-mean-to-be-under-administration-201805160512
Seems like mayors and MMCs get thrown out and an administrator takes complete control of the muni.
That's what I was worried about, now we pay the incompetent mayor and their committee plus whoever the administrator comes with. They're not thrown out. Their exec powers are taken away, but remain on the payroll afaik.
To make matters worse, the process can take over a year and the average resident won't even know the town is run by administrators therefore, will vote for the same governing party in future. That's what I was worried about, now we pay the incompetent mayor and their committee plus whoever the administrator comes with.
Lol...just cant help themselves...When you earn a fantastic salary plus perks and still feel the need to steal.
The mayor of Tswelopele Municipality in the Free State appeared in court on Friday facing charges of theft of goods worth R60 000 from several shops owned by foreign nationals.
Police said the 51-year-old Kenalemang Phukuntsi had been arrested on suspicion of stealing cosmetics, vegetables, groceries, Pampers, petrol cleaners, and diesel cleaners from several foreign-owned shops on 2 February.
Free State police spokesperson Captain Stephen Thakeng said it appeared that the mayor had visited several shops owned by foreign nationals and accused them of selling expired groceries.
"That's when she allegedly took the items from the stores... The items the mayor took were valued at R60 000," he said.
Phukuntsi was charged with five counts of theft and crimen injuria, said Thakeng.
When she appeared in the Hoopstad Magistrate's Court on Friday, she was granted bail of R2 000.

I am totally surprised there isn't a single report of fighting and murder, the fact that they could disagree until the wee hours of the morning without reaching out for guns must a record.
Oh Sihle, please bruv. Are they not allowed to go after DA voters if they wanted to?
Lets hope this was sorted out and we see none of this happening./ Raises hand.

Yeah, I don't think changing the culture of violence and disorderly conduct when things don't go you way will be an event, it's going to take a while.Lets hope this was sorted out and we see none of this happening.
