So, my domestic just asked me "What are we to do, no power, no water - there's nothing"

So, I just said "Don't vote ANC, next time"

She went on to say she just won't vote. I explained why that's no different to voting ANC - and gave her CY example of an alternative.

She says she gets it now and will be voting someone else, besides ANC / EFF. Says not might be DA, because in her ward, when they came there - they fixed street lights and such and she can see a difference.

This is an unconscious thing, I think. In the days of the old regime, in the townships, either you were forced to support the ANC or you were forced to stay out of politics in general. If you supported someone else, you had a target on your back.

I think that's where the "If I can't vote ANC, I won't vote at all" thing comes from.

So according to this press release, the wards being contested next week in the Western Cape is the uber-safe Ward 5 in the City of Cape Town (2nd pic) but I'll take a guess he's talking about Ward 05 in the Cederberg, although the DA still received 5 times more votes than the ramshackle PA in the Ward (1st pic)

That's a fair point; the older generation seems to have this mindset that, if the ANC doesn't work for them - they stay at home.

Thankfully, there are younger people voting too.

He's heading to ASA most likely, a lot of times recently those who leave the DA who come up with **** like that head out to COPE: DA, I mean ASA...

That was 100% my guess as well, he's positioning himself to join ASA.
