Zille definitely is.Really? The DA is Trump right-wing? How are they even close to those crazies in the US?
If the people say they must go with ANC, he's leaving.
Yup, NNP syndrome. If they go to the ANC, it will be a chance for the likes of Beaumont and co to earn some money temporarily but once the partnership ends (and it will), so to will that. It really will be suicide for the party if that happens.
He is not going anywhere, the reality of how politics work is dawning fast fast on him, the Oppenheimers money is finished and the party needs money, he will work with the ANC if that will bring him the relief he needs./suspicion_time

I think Mashaba might be looking for ways out. I mean he could have done the same last year when ASA also had a poll about coalitions when the LGEs were going on. And said if the people say ANC, he'll resign.
Something is off behind the scenes I think.

ActionSA lays criminal complaint against KZN DA for allegedly bribing councillor
Party leader Herman Mashaba said councillor Shandy Singh was offered a position in the KZN legislature by the DA's top brass in exchange for his defection to the party.ewn.co.za
“That is putting the councillor in a very difficult situation. I told the caucus leader [on Monday] that he is in a predicament because the money is good,” Mashaba said.
What's happening in December?December is definitely the final battle for the ANC.
I just can't shake the feeling we're gonna see an NP/CP type thing happen after the conference. Perhaps another COPE?
It's a bit of a pity for the RET faction that they've completely bankrupt the golden goose that was ethekwini...The RET faction, whether they win or lose in December will still have their KZN, with all their municipalities to dispense patronage and to loot from, why would they leave all that behind to go form another party?
I honestly don't understand @PrimeSteak logic around that but it doesn't make sense to me. Unless if he meant Cyril and them will lose then form another party?
The residents should fire the politicians, then use the money that was allocated to their salaries to fix everything. It's a bit of a pity for the RET faction that they've completely bankrupt the golden goose that was ethekwini...

ANC elective conference. What's happening in December?
Yes, they could have been in a much better position with a functional eThekwini. It's a bit of a pity for the RET faction that they've completely bankrupt the golden goose that was ethekwini...
It'll go either way.I honestly don't understand @PrimeSteak logic around that but it doesn't make sense to me. Unless if he meant Cyril and them will lose then form another party?
Until 2024, that is...The RET faction, whether they win or lose in December will still have their KZN, with all their municipalities to dispense patronage and to loot from, why would they leave all that behind to go form another party?
My reasoning is very simple, they own KZN, whatever happens in December is not going to affect that, they will still control the budget of the province as well as the budget of the various municipalities, now tell me, under those circumstances why would they leave? It'll go either way.
If RET loses, they can split off/merge with ATM and if they get enough electoral support, coalesce with the ANC remainder to get back in.
If Rama loses, it'll be like the formation of COPE really.
You can see the cracks, the infighting which is a shitton worse than before, you see everyone and their second-hand grandma being nominated, they can't govern (not even themselves at their conferences), all the signs are there for a potential split. There were even talks of a split in 2017 already.
I'm sorry, but I just don't see how it'll end in another kumbaya/"unity and renewal" settlement like in 2017...
Until 2024, that is...
