So this is a new thread specially dedicated to SA Politics.

All current happenings or debates (should put it in quotes really since this is myBB) about SA's politics and political happenings should be held here. This will serve as a replacement to the infamous "DA is in total crisis" and "ANC is in total crisis" threads.

I'll kick it off...

After yesterday's statement by ActionSA accusing the DA of trying to include EFF into the multi-party coalitions in Gauteng via ActionSA itself, the multi-party coalition has released a response to yesterday's media conference.

It's alleged that Athol Trollip will be the new fated addition to ActionSA's ranks tomorrow at the reveal in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha).

Also, seems like DA held their TSONA today...

I might not be a fan of Mashaba but I'm at least happy to see the progressives that exited the DA coalesce in one place. The DA can classically liberalise themselves into irrelevance.

****in' hell, ASA and DA are going at it now, aren't they? Instead of realizing that they can work together (since they share many similarities), they are attacking each other... This thing between Baloyi and Zille is getting boring/annoying now, they should just bliksem each other in a boxing ring and be done with it.

Also, ASA's new member reveal is today at 11. I wonder if it will actually be Trollip or if it will be a surprise?

Problem with experiments is that they become too cheeky.
So being totally honest here,

Bongani's response to Helen Zille shows a massive lack of maturity on his part (or possibly a chip on his shoulder). So what if Helen said he will regret leaving the DA, its her opinion and the best course of action from Bongani would be to have ignored it, or if he had to respond then he should have responded in a calm fashion going "You are welcome to your opinion, I personally feel it is the best course of action for me and for South Africa as ActionSA is the future of politics in SA" or something along those lines.

True, it usually happens when there has been too much tolerating each other for the sake of the party. It's like colleagues who hate each other but have to coexist because of work, it doesn't take much to set one off.

Trollip, it is a blow for the DA. He was one of the very few members from the classical liberal faction of the DA that had a base extending racial lines.

Mphiti might soon join him.

Logically, it was always going to happen.

A big portion of Action SA's target market is apathetic DA voters and the DA is clearly aware of that.

The whole Bongani vs DA thing is comical and Zille is not the only DA member who has taken him on. There are several others but he only really bothered to respond to Zille. The troll that is Dean Macpherson has been trying hard to find a response but failed.

Reminds me of WWE when one guy "sells out" the group and they then gang up on him like a pack of dogs. Thats what the DA members together with their agents in the media are doing to Bongani.

If I remember correctly, he was quite popular in PE/EC back in the day? Possible 2024 EC Premier Candidate?

I very much doubt Trollip is a blow for the DA....

He had left the party already, so any people who would have "followed" him had already become disillusioned with the DA before this.

He may be a blow for the DA in the long run if he can "fix" the cult following aspect of ActionSA which seems to revolve around Mashaba... ActionSA needs to be a party with a diverse talent pool that doesn't identify as being a single person for it to survive. Also, from my point of view, ActionSA has a very big problem to solve before they will be a credible option and that is the EFF "connection". Until that is completely excised I will not vote for them.
