Well done, no wiggle room should be left,, tenders are a scourge that needs to be eliminated, and with the security guards in their employ the city can at least do a proper vetting on who they employ to guard their resources.

Forgive my ignorance. But what is the whole debate around insourcing?

Does it simply mean the city wants to employ the guards / staff directly, rather than a tender to a 3rd party company? Thus eliminating the possibility of corruption as much a possible?

Yes, that's what insourcing is. In other words, making tenders/tenderpreneurs along with the horrible corruption that comes with it a thing of the past.

Precisely.

It stems from what Mashaba and the EFF started in Joburg, the security tenders cost the city a lot of money yet only a little made it to the security guards, the city did calculations and found out they could easily pay security guards and even give them other employee benefits without spending anything more that what the actual tender was worth.

That's why the same spirit is being spread all over where they are in a coalition, instead of making the fatcat tenderpreneurs fatter give a living wage to the people, the city loses nothing. The DA has since that not been very fond of Mashaba because the probably feel he is being too commie or something so they have hit the snag pertaining to the insourcing in Tshwane.

Like I said before the whole ASA/DA thing is more Zille v Mashaba than anything else honestly. Also why "too commie", when they still have center-left policies like rooting for a social market economy, etc?

Why the DA perhaps gave some resistance towards the "new" insourcing plan, was cause of the bigger DA/ASA bickering.

It's because the DA is afraid ASA will take their votes.

The most hilarious thing was when the DA were calling out Mashaba for xenophobia when they were the ones defending him against xenophobia accusations before his departure.

The battle for the deputy presidency of the ANC is in full swing with a number of names being mentioned in the contest for the position at the national conference scheduled for December. Party Treasurer-General Paul Mashatile could be the one to dethrone David Mabuza from the position.

ANC insiders believe the race for the deputy presidency of the party is likely to be divided into three groups: candidates who are staunch supporters of party President Cyril Ramaphosa, candidates who are aligned to the Radical Economic Transformation (RET) faction, and Ramaphosa pragmatists.
This third grouping consists of members who are not necessarily supporters of Ramaphosa but have decided that he is the only sensible option and will therefore support him, for now.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised that things are going so well in Ekhuruleni for the "united front" coalition there. Since they only have 98 seats and have to rely on the EFF to pass stuff. And seeing that budgets are being passed and things are getting done it seems EFF is actually playing ball with the "united front". And that's great!

Seems like all the Gauteng "united front" governments are holding and getting **** done. This bodes really well for the run-up to 2024.
