I heard it was like R300billion or something they want and it's plans for 2035 and the city has an annual budget of R55billion.
The "plan" is the same as all the other cities where funding is concerned. They are going for a build and operate model with the city as the exclusive customer. All the other metros plan the same. Just not as far fetched as Durban.

I saw a post in this thread or elsewhere saying something about the eThekwini metro planning some energy thing to ween themselves off Eskom. So, this afternoon the guy in charge of their energy whatever gets interviewed and apparently their energy mix includes nuclear! So the interviewer asks him how they plan on getting nuclear. Lol, I have never heard such meaningless waffle from a person in charge of energy in my life. They say they also plan on including coal and when asked how that fits in with the just energy transition he waffles some meaningless drivel about carbon capture. Yoh! It is obvious the city has no plan other than this obvious fantasy and will continue to rely on Eskom, but will waste billions on feasibility studies to tell that they are fantasizing, lol.
The city is fscked and run by a bunch of incompetent imbeciles basically.

They mayor is a wannabe rap star and probably can't even wipe his own arse let alone run a city.

JUST IN | NMB mayor, deputy mayor and chief whip removed through motion of no confidence

Nelson Mandela Bay Metro mayor Eugene Johnson, her deputy Buyelwa Mafaya and chief whip Wandile Jikeka have been removed from their positions through a motion of no confidence.

The Wednesday meeting was called through a motion of exigency by the African Christian Democratic Party and was seconded by the Freedom Front Plus.

Sixty-two councillors voted in favour of their removal, while 58 voted for them to remain.

Interesting, especially since GOOD is supposed to be the ANC because they always vote with the ANC and all that.
Now that's a ****ing miracle. Since up until this point, they had always voted with ANC and coalesced with them.

So hold your victory lap please.
