The Samsung i900 OMNIA Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Same here, can't download MMS nor forward. MTN as the default operator.

Haven't tested receiving on my current firmware but on the previous I was able to receive MMSes, never tested sending though. And only now tried to send a mms...

Edit: On vodacom btw.

MMS sending and receiving works fine for me on Vodacom with i900JCHH1.
Busy downloading i900JCHJ3 firmware (Vista Install) from samsungblog. Has anyone installed this successfully?

Nick

Hi Bedford
Have you done a *#1234# to check that your current firmware begins with JC***. If it does not begin with JC, then I think it means you have the Vodacom firmware and will have to wait until Vodacom approves the new update.

From samsungblog.co.za:
Omnia Vista JCHJ3 - this software is only compatible with units with software i900JC***.
Please note that this downloader is only compatible to units currently loaded with JC (Open version) software. Clients with JB (Vodacom) software will not be able to make use of this application.
The "Vodacom" files will be made available as soon as we have received approval from the Operator.
To check your version, please enter *#1234#.
Your software version will be displayed as either i900JC*** or i900JB***.
Once again, this software is only compatible with units with software i900JC***.

Cheers,
Nick

Yes I am on JCHJ3, but MMS aren't working, probably just not configured correctly. Please let us know if you are able to MMS after loading HJ3.

Finally got my MMS working here is how for vodacom:

start>settings>connections
Go to add a new modem connection
Name: MMS
Select Modem: Cellular Line(GPRS)
>next
Access Point name: mms.vodacom.net
>next>finish
-------------------
Go to > Start > Messaging
>menu select >MMS Options
On the profile tab select New Profile
MMSProfile: MMS
MMSC: mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za
Data Connections:MMS
GateWay:WAP 2.0
IP Address: 169.6.128.13
Port: 8080

I flashed mine but now I get a funny looking pic when I turn the phone on. Instead of showing "Samsung Omnia" it shows a cellphone with an exclamation inside a yellow triangle. But once that disappears it is all fine...any ideas?

upgrade firmware

Hi Guys

I am still struggling to upgrade the firmware version on my phone. Read the forum and the manual.

Installed the modem driver on my pc
switched off usb selection on active sync
ran new firmware soft from samsung blog
connected phone
but it keeps waiting for the device and does not detect???

any ideas why????

Hey. a friend of mine has an omnia.. he had troubles with the screen align. So we reset the phone with convienent reset button on top, and when windows wanted to set everything up for 1st time, and asked us to align the screen, it wont go past that section.
we tap the taget nice a firmly and accuratly, but the target just goes back to the middle.
So we decided to install the latest firmware, and format the phone (as per instructions of the samsung help line), and still the same..

we do the screen align thingy like 100 times, and it wont go past it...

any ideaS?

Send it back to the service provider. Touch screen fault........

Your phone has 2 screens, one is the LCD that display everything and the other is the touch screen on top the LCD.

Sounds like the screen is faulty, you'll probably have to take it to samsung/vodacare for repairs...

You have tried a hard reset? : Follow the guideline here:

1. Press reset pin button ONCE (do not hold)
2. Once you see the Samsung Omnia appears on the screen, immediately press the SEND and END key simultaneously
3. Then the screen appears asking you whether you are sure to format
4. Press SEND to format or END to cancel
