The Samsung i900 OMNIA Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

I see, I though your playback source are those movies already converted to Omnia playable format from the net rather than something you still need to convert manually.

Regarding the camera quality, I am just talking from experience. The pocket PC phone I had before Omnia, had some camera patch installed and improved quality with less noise in the picture under low light environment. I guess there's no harm to try upgrade ROM as it should fix some other problems you are experiencing at the moment.

Thanks for the replies..

Im copying 700mb movies via usb, to copy via card reader, i have to take the battery out to get the card out, then put the card into the adapter than put it in the reader...

Why do you do that? You can use start>settings>Connections>USB Connection mode> Mass storage ...

Lemmings: I don't know how many people remember this game, but, well, it's BRILLIANT and highly addictive on the Omnia. Apparently there are still some copyright laws regarding this game, so you'll have to find the MAIN.DAT file to play it yourself. It's really easy to find though, remembering that Google's your friend. If you find it, just put it in the same location as you installed Lemmings and yeah, simple as pie :)

Thanks looks pretty cool! :D

i am having problem with the SD card that came with the omnia
i can see the SD card on my pc if it is in the phone but when i take it out and put it in a card reader i cant see it
is any one having the same problem

Have you tried Core Player?

A few people have recommended Core, I will try it as soon as Iv updated my firmware. Anyone know any good backup utilties?

My fone has hung twice since yesterday afternoon, need to get this upgrade done tonight!

Anybody in the P.E. area that can help me flash my rom , on the Omnia . Everything on my Omnia has just slowed right down as well as the battery (at a push) lasting 24 hours ????
Oh yes the phone is 2 weeks old .

Hey all,

Check out this useful app, SmartProtect. It notifies you (or a friend) when your cellphone is stolen.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=464336

Basically, you can register specific sim cards with your cellphone and if a non-registered sim card is put into your phone, it will begin smsing a bunch of numbers (that you specify) with details as to the current location of your phone - e.g. if it can get a GPS lock, it will send GPS location details.

Tried it now, and it worked very well! Haven't tried the GPS lock yet though.

Thanks, I have seen something similar before but never bother as my previous phone don't have build in GPS. Wonder how uninstall proof it is. A smart thief will probably switch if off after it's stolen and flash the ROM to remove such protections.

Hi Robass

I am in PE and can perhaps help. I am running WM6.5 with SPB Mobile shell 3.
Awesome. Battery last 4 days with quite a bit of use.
I must stress that I can accept no responsibility for flashing a ROM on your Phone.
I also have the Official Singapore DZIA5 ROM (WM6.1). also good battery life etc.
WM6.5 is really the best. Very responsive.

I doubt very many thieves are fluent in flashing the ROM on every phone they steal... I could be wrong though
I use GuardMobile. Same theory though. To get into the program requires a pin. In the program you can select whether you want it to display in the uninstall programs list or not.

Just did it... Sync'd my contacts, calendar and text messages with the internet!
Now my phone, outlook, toaster, and the internet are all syncronised.
Now Microsoft just needs to make this cross-platform, incase there's no worthy WinMo phones in 2010 when I need to upgrade.

Only problem is if you currently sync to Exchange Server @ work, you cant sync Contacts, Mail or Tasks to MyPhone.... Pity because you cant unsync to Exchange cause you lose your contacts, mail and tasks... Bit of a catch 22

Has anyone had problems with Garmin after installing a cooked ROM?

Vodacom also has an online backup service for mobiles, most likely the other sp's have too..

No prblems with Garmin. I simply click on the program and it asks if you want to install.

I always make sure I update the Sat Positions on the Settings--> Xtras GPS first and then it connects much quicker.

I have flashed about 4 times now and no hassles.

What does yours say/do?

Official FB app for WM:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/facebook.mspx

Also, if you've had a previous version installed, go to the root of your device (not storage card or my storage) and delete the facebook.vol file, or else it will keep freezing your phone after you enter your login details and press 'Done'

And if you're into twitter... I suggest PockeTwit
http://code.google.com/p/pocketwit/

I'd suggest switching off the GPS function. Although it's cool... it'll kill your battery, even after exiting the app (known bug)
