Vodacom Sim card not working, but MTN does.

If i check *#7465625# i get
Sim/USIM Lock - Disabled
Network Lock -Disabled
Network Susset Lock - Disabled
Service Provider Lock - Disabled
Corparate Lock - Disables

Why is my Vodacom Simcard not working

Help Please

You sure it's the phone?
 
No, i am not sure if it is the phone.

I have tried my Vodacom contract and prepaid simcards - both not working.

I have also tried MTN Contract and Prepaid Simcards - both working.

Any ideas anyone?
 
After you insert the Vodacom sims into the phone and switch it on, does it notify you the change of sim card and ask you if you want to change the network settings?

Yes it is doing that, and it asks me if i want to register on the Vodacom-SA(GSM) network , but it just won't register.

If i install the lastes ROM will that help? i am still on JCHH1/JCHH1

I know it may be a dumb suggestion... but go to settings, personal, phone. click the network tab and is the network selection set to automatic?

Otherwise I can't think of any other reason why

If all else fails, do a hard reset. JCHH1 should work on both networks.

Read the instructions VERY carefully! E.g. if you're using XP, remember to install the modem drivers.

The site explicitly maintains that you can not flash the JBHH1 ROM (vodacom) with the new one - is this true ? or will it work ? also it only states this for Vista uses and not XP ?

I did it and I also have vodacom.

Are you looking at the Vista or xp instructions ? I remember reading something on the site about not being able to flash JBHH1 rom with vista.

I was looking at the vista instructions... but
I dont care - vista or xp, i got two vista machines and 1 XP laptop. so either or... no preference. From what I have just read on the samsung blog site, I will have to run the XP update.... and like you said, it will work!!! hee haa

I think it is best to do the update with XP jmo.

Almost every other samsung forum I have read, most people have flashed their phone using XP. Don't want to brick my phone so I went with the way that works :)
 
Installed this on my phone... very cool!

Basically it's a security program. If your phone gets stolen and a new sim is put into the phone, the phone will send an sms to a pretetermined number. You can then reply to that sms and do stuff like locate the phone (using GPS) and erase data. Honestly, I think it's something everyone needs to have on their phone and may even assist with some arrests!

Ran the update on XP, worked perfectly ;) Then put SPB mobile shell V.3 - very nice !!!

Oh Before I updated the ROM, i found a nice free app (will have to look at home what it was called) that backed up all the call records, SMS's etc. Very easy to use and completely successfull!

Heres another app I'm gonna try when I get home http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441593 its called "MissedCallReminder" and will alow you to set repeat reminders for missed calls and sms's !

I installed the program last night and imo its awesome. I set the number of maths/maze games to 10, this morning I had to wake up, no pressing the snooze button.

The maze game is easy, and then the math calculations start out easy with something like 10 + 5 choose an answer. When I completed 2 easy maths questions the next few were a bit harder for example 833 / 12 - choose the answer.

and...

The alarm does not go silent until you have completed every maze and answered every calculation.

Will leave my calculator next to my bed tonight :D
