Indeed :)

I've been DE-ing for quite a while now. Much more lax on the lathering routine than at the beginning, but it's still amazingly effective compared to disposables for regular shaving.

I still whip out a disposable from time to time if I'm away from home for an extended period or in a hurry, but it's very rare.

I have had a few bad nicks, but that's generally out of stupidity; I managed to nick my nose once while feeling if I missed a spot with the little finger of the hand holding the razor :p
 
I am happy to report that the Muhler blades are awesome.

Had a shave this morning, and while the cut was very close, it wasn't as 'edgy' as the Bluebeards were. Afterwards my skin felt way smoother than previously, but not as tender.

Very glad I decided to try these, I think I will stick to them from now on.

I also used a EJ razor but my beard is very rough so moved to a Fatip Grande last night but shave was not so close as I was scared I remove my entire face.

Haha, that would have been quite an experience!


I don't know if anyone else experiences this, but after a long shave, my fingers are a bit numb from holding the razor. It almost feels as if the razor's handle should be much longer?
 
Try less grip, only use your thumb on one side and index and middle finger on the other side and very little pressure
 
Just bought myself a Fatip Grande as xmas present to my face. Been shaving DE for nearly a year now, so much better :D

I shave once a week and have a really nasty beard ( can take a hair, bend it between thumb and forefinger and it will flick across a room, blame my porre heritage :p ) and looking forward to this one as they say it works really well for the harder beards.

Also using one for about 6months now. Very nice razor but be careful the first couple of shaves as it takes a while to get use to the aggressiveness.

I use it with a minora blade, nice and smooth shave

How does the weight feel? I needed something with a bit of heft, hence my investment in a razor.

I read the handle is hollow but my main concern is the head like you say. Got mine from River Trading, so far a great buying experience from them: got a the razor, nice steel bowl, alum and going to try some goat/coconut soap.

Yes the handle is hollow. I also buy from River Valley, nothing but awesome service. The alum is a very nice addition which reminds me that I need to get a block again.
 
Just a update, got my stuff after ordering from them yesterday ( I am local though ), great service and care, recommend for folks wanting shaving supplies.

Sorry for thread necro, just had to drop this here.

Started using DE razor 6 months ago, no regrets. You have to get a decent razor though, the Lion and Bic brands just won't do it.

A decent razor is expensive, but it will last you forever and even the expensive blades are cheap. works out to about R2.50 a blade and I get a months worth of shaving out of it. Around 8 shaves.
 
Thanks for the necro, I graduated to a single blade cutthroat now, takes longer than the DE but damn it gets close. Bought a blue beard shavette and then was gifted a beutiful black carbon steel one from a site on facebook. That one is wrapped but I'll use it for travel or once the other "breaks".

On cheap blades, supermax > lion any day, find lions not as sharp.

I have contemplated the cut throat a few times recently, might be a present to myself in a few months...

and on the cheap blades stuff, I agree.. SuperMax uber alles really.

Premium blades are nice but pricey, I prefer to spend the additional on good balms or artisan soaps.
