so have you succ3essfully upgraded to new rom?
 
Hey Guys,

Just a quick one. I installed TomTom Navigator 7 and then also TomTom Home. From there you can buy a map. I just bought mine as follows:

Kaart van zuidelijk Afrika v6.8 EUR 49,95

This is all I really wanted. Going legit is cool if you can afford it ...
 
Sorry if this has been posted before on here, but i am looking a very good task manager for my x1... the built in one is a bit too plain for my liking... i want one that displays the processes and the programs running it...

any ideas?

So from what i have read that there are few of you guys have uploaded the new rom, a few questions.

1 Do you have to do a hardsbl i been reading on XDA and supposedly not cause its not a cooked Rom???

2 Just in case can any tell if there is any software out there that one can use to back up your old rom or maybe a url where i can download the stock rom. I am on MTN, i have only managed to find the one for vodacom

3 Finally if you dont have to HardSBL do you loose all the things you have uploaded. Garmin, TouchFlo, pic and vids etc??

Oh and naturally is there a much benefit from upgrading to R2 from what i have read battery life as increased and boot time is faster. Anything else?
 
Those who've updated using the micro SD card -
* I did hard spl, and confirmed it
* Now the phone only says "update in progress", with a status bar, that runs for a few seconds, the goes to tri-color screen, loads the image file, and repeats this non stop.
Does this mean it is actually updating?

Am I correct in sayin that I should put this file - APP_SW_X1i_GENERIC_UK_KOV_R2A.rar - on the memory card, but rename it to kovsimg.nbh ?

I'm outa my league here:confused:

From what i have read your have to extract the file rar file first then rename it and then put on the Mico SD card

hey man... i was also out of my league when i did it...

But you on the right track... format the sd card, rename it to kovsimg.nbh, and do the update procedure... phone off, hold volume down and on/off button...

:)

Thats correct, extract file file in the .rar file, and do as above..

I didn't extract the file, and already renamed it.
Now I renamed it again to the original filename, but winzip wont extract it.
Will winzip even extract a .rar file?

Nope, use 7zip, or winrar

7zip did the job, and busy loading new rom as I type this.
The whole process is actually very easy, I'm just too stupid to realise I didn't extract the file. winzip didn't do anything

Aren't forums ust great.

Will post my opinion of the upgrade when I used the phone a bit.

did someone say they found the vodacom hardspl? if so, please post a link so i can keep for warrantee purposes...
 
i would be very surprised if anyone would want to keep the vodafone version on their x1.
it really is a bit dodgy compared to the generic.
 
yes well, it wouldn't be a bad idea to stick with it for the first week or so to check that your phone is 100% cool and doesn't have to go back for a swap.
